Bernard Dunaux was born in Sydney, Australia. Dunaux’s abstract works arrive instinctually, calling upon his past visual experiences. Living in many different countries has informed an evolving body of work rich with the diversities of color, shape and energy. Over the years Dunaux has continually pushed forward to create artworks that are a reflection of our time, equally balanced and strikingly classic. In his latest compositions, the use of materials such as burlap, plastic sheeting and various industrial dyes add a contemporary and immediate aspect. His ColorScapes, well suited to large architectural spaces, are composed on birch panels with gesso, spray paint and a painstaking application of mixed acrylic layers. The process results in clean, “post numeric” paintings where the repetition of gesture lends a Zen-like feel.

About The Artwork Acrylic, acrylic based medium, UV protection, oil, fabrics on pigment prints on canvas. The artwork comes ready to hang. Transforming hotel stationery into the domain of painting, the artwork does not concern itself with content. Canvas, fabrics and pigment prints were covered with various applications of paint and a devotion to painterly processes and excesses, creating an impression of depth through overlapping layers. While letters and numbers, as means of language-based expression, may have initiated the procedure of processing, they loose the initial meaning, and the significance now restricts itself to that of signs within a set space. This abstract contemporary painting by Julia Contacessi is made with acrylic paint on canvas. It features a colorful palette, with muted green, purple, and white layered together with thin brushes of metallic gold overtop. It is wired and ready to hang. Connecticut-based artist Julia Contacessi earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute in New York City in 2000. Over the years, her eye for composition coupled with her love of painting, design, and photography has earned Julia numerous awards in such publications as Photographer's Forum and Creativity along with inclusion into the Yale Robert B. Haas Family Arts Library Special Collections (ALSC) in New Haven, CT. Julia never strayed far from texture, paint and the mixing and layering of mediums, which are important components to her work. In fact, Julia's most recent abstracts focus on deconstructing painted color palette studies through isolated images, and then rebuilding those studies with new form and composition. Julia lives in Norwalk, Connecticut with her husband and son. She spends most weekends tackling new projects and getting into all sorts of adventures with her little guy, Neo. She loves painting & photography, the occasional 5 mile run and feisty discussions across the family dinner table on Sunday evenings. "When you layer on the paint just right, so that it dances across a wash of another color, a new level of dimension is created," Julia says of her work. "Combine that dimension with the exploration of color and I’ve just begun to captured something meaningful. My style is single-minded and focused on the simplicity of beauty in the moment. My goal is to drown out the noise and clutter to find a sense of calm through light. The end result is clean, fresh and modern."
