These images from short fiction that appeared in The Saturday Evening Post in the 1940s and ’50s show doctors and nurses in the throes of passion...or is it indigestion?
‘Kiss The Cook’ is a mid-century modern styled high-quality print, of Johnny and June Atomic, a retro couple enjoying their morning coffee in a bubble chair from the mid-century modern era, by the artist Scooter. All prints are professionally printed, packaged, and shipped. Choose from multiple sizes and mediums. The heart of this piece is the feeling you get when you get to take care of the one you love. One of my favorite parts about being married is finding that special someone you love to take care of. My wife, Chrysti, takes amazing care of myself and our two sons. Every single day through her actions she always makes sure we feel loved. We are so blessed by her! One of the ways I get to tell her I love her is by making and bringing her coffee every morning. She really enjoys starting the day with a big cup of coffee and I’m the one person in the entire world who gets to bring it to her. Something in my heart comes alive when I know she feels taken care of and loved. I hope when you look at this piece it brings to mind those special people who love you by their actions and those you get to love through yours. ‘Swept Away’ is a mid-century modern styled high-quality print, of Johnny and June Atomic, a retro couple dancing by a record player from the mid-century modern era, by the artist Scooter. All prints are professionally printed, packaged, and shipped. Choose from multiple sizes and mediums. I believe every person’s heart desires to be swept away in the arms of the person they love. When I was animating for Disney, we had a swing dancing craze hit the studio where everyone was learning how to swing dance. My wife Chrysti and I had a lot of fun learning swing dancing with all our friends. Around the same time Disney had just finished building its latest cruise ship and was offering everyone in Disney Feature Animation some amazing discounts to try it out. So Chrysti and I, and several of our good friends, took an amazing cruise to the Bahamas. One-night Chrysti and I snuck off to be alone and found ourselves dancing outside on the top deck of the ship, under a full moon, with a live band playing swing music. Even though there were other couples swing dancing we felt like we were the only ones. We had a blast that night dancing under the stars and making an awesome memory. This piece was inspired by that special night and celebrates those romantic times when you find yourself getting swept off of your feet and lost in the eyes of your forever dance partner! Our Deluxe Prints are printed on Luster Fine Art paper and some sizes come Double Matted. I love used book stores. I have never really been attracted to new book stores, for a couple of reasons. As a child and teen, I couldn’t afford to pay cover price for a book. I think the only…
The renderings of romance in mid-century women's magazines were dreamy propaganda for a very gay kind of love. Sigh.
