Kogin or Koginzashi (こぎん刺し) is a type of stitching related to sashiko. Kogin is done only on the warp (horizontal part of the fabric) and is a type of counted stitch that produces beautiful designs. This kit includes supplies to make three kurumi (cloth covered) buttons: - 100% cotton fabric - kogin thread - kogin needle - 3 square button forms Each button measures about 1" x 1" (3cm x 3cm). The Kogin needle case features the popular Japanese Lotus design in lovely autumnal shades and comes as a complete kit including everything you need to complete the project. If you wish to use up some of your evenweave fabric and embroidery thread stash, this PDF download chart comes with full instructions. The design was created using the finest perle cotton embroidery threads in five rich colours, this design is worked in a traditional Japanese Kogin embroidery technique from a counted chart, in much the same way as cross stitch on a natural evenweave linen. The darker shades are reflected in the fine line running near the spine of the booklet.
