The now famous half-up top knot, I'm a fan. Nobody does it better than Courtney Kerr. Once this illustration was complete, I couldn't help but think it's a dead-ringer for Courtney herself.
I've been color crushing on yellow lately. While it's not a color I'm usually drawn to, it seems to be screaming summer more than any other color and I'm a fan of that. It pairs well with a pop of coral (like these earrings) and great straw accessories. prints available here
A few season's ago Zara made a splash with this updated version of a skort. They're back, 90's style, with a vengeance. Now, other brands are jumping on board with the trend so there's more options available. The top is from Express and I bought it in 4 colors - a great staple for summer. I stumbled across this picture on instagram of Alexandra Vidal from the Bergdorf Goodman birthday celebration. It's all I had to go by, but I knew immediately that I was obsessed with this look! Love the dress, love the straight hair, love the understated jewels, etc. I especially loved the color....peacock blue is so chic. My version... After I finished illustrating one of my favorite dresses ever, I googled it to find more pictures. I discovered that her dress, in fact, did not look like that and was not peacock blue. #fail I think I like my version better... thoughts? Thank you to everyone who stopped by Christmas Village over the weekend! It was a huge success thanks to you! Pop over to my Facebook page to see pictures from the event if you weren't able to make it. I'll be at the Centennial High School show this weekend. Saturday 9am - 5pm Sunday 12noon - 4pm
The bigger the better seems to be the motto for summer when it comes to dresses and apparel. Volume by way of balloon sleeves, tons of flowy fabric, over-sized bags... are you getting the picture? I've been stalking this yellow dress from Target for weeks (like checking the website everyday kind of stalking). Finally, one day last week, they had my size and I snagged it as fast as I could. Much to my disappointment, it's sold out again... I wanted to be the bearer of great news so you could all grab one, too! Since it is sold out, I scoured the web looking for a suitable alternative and have come up with a handful of options. The tiered look is trending right now, so I would consider jumping on board. With next week's premier of a movie centered around a childhood icon who favors pink, it has us reimagining the classics she wore! Margot Robbie wore a remake of this iconic sequin look to the premier, but we wanted to put a modern, more approachable spin on it. clutch | top | skirt | greeting card | heels
With so many summer occasions to attend, it's a good idea to have a great dress on standby. I love the idea of dressing a little black dress down with a summer chunky heel and fun earrings. It makes a black dress in the middle of summer seem less harsh, less serious. This one does the trick with the asymmetrical neckline and shorter hemline. earrings: Shopbop (sold out, similar version here) | dress: Shopbop | shoes: ASOS prints available here SaveSave

T G I F There are some weeks where Friday can't come soon enough and this was one of those weeks! Looking forward to a weekend of resting up, hopefully soaking in some sun, and preparing for a busy week next week! [ prints available here ]
I love visiting new cities, trying new things, but it always makes coming home even sweeter. Not to mention, yesterday was one of those perfect fall Nashville Sundays where the temperature was just right, it was sunny so outdoor activities were a must, and the coffee was made even sweeter with a little Pumpkin Spice flavoring.
What's not to love about a perfectly pastel pink door? Quick, take my picture. It matches my dress...
It's always a good day when you spot your product in a magazine. I'm so flattered by the support not only of everyone on social media, but especially of my local Nashville community. Each year, I proudly partner with the team at Steeplechase to create an invitation for their pre-race-day luncheon. I've been doing it for a few years now and always look forward to creating a design highlighting their child ambassador for the event. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the event, and I can't wait to attend in May.

It's still officially summer, but fall is oh so close... I can feel it. I've always loathed "fall colors" because they're just blah. However, one of my favorite color combinations right now is cognac + navy. It's perfect for these transitional months because it has a fall-feel but can be executed in lightweight/summery pieces. Throw this blazer over your summer go-to jean shorts and white tee for a more polished look. Another killer combo is a pair of distressed jeans and a sleeveless top layered with a long-line vest. Wear it with a heeled sandal for now // switch to a flared-leg jean, a long-sleeve tee and this ankle boot when the temps drop. If you need a place to start, a classic cognac bag like this one from Madewell is always a win. Counting down the hours to tonight's show with Carolina Herrera, yes, THE Carolina Herrera. The Nashville Symphony Fashion Show is one of my favorite events of the year. With a different designer each year, it's an elegant showcase of Spring's finest fashion in the most beautiful setting. Tonight should be no exception. I cannot wait to see Mrs. Herrera's collection in person. Look #42 Spring 2016

With a new season comes a new wardrobe. Why shouldn't that also translate to your morning coffee cup? It's hard to think about cozying up with a hot Pumpkin Spiced Latte in a summer-inspired cup. So, without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to Blair, Serena and Lily, our fall girls. Not only are our 27 oz. insulated tumblers ideal for keeping your morning coffee hot for hours, they're also great for keeping a cup of soup warm until lunch or icing down your favorite tailgate drink. Do I even need to elaborate on how they're the perfect gift? Fill one to the brim with candy corn (bonus points if you mix it with dry roasted peanuts for the perfect fall blend), arrange freshly picked flowers for a friend in need of a pick-me-up, or grab that must-read book everyone is talking about and tie a bow around it. I've spoken about the Splendid x Damsel in Dior collab before, but it might be the perfect time to mention it again. Thanksgiving is officially one week from today. So, if you haven't planned your outfit yet, now is the time. Let me help.... This easy cotton dress is perfect if you're in a southern state where it's not expected to be drastically cold (it comes in white, too). Pair it with a tan bootie and an understated plaid scarf. Key word: understated. Dare I say it? I'm so sick of plaid scarves. They're everywhere. Let's take it down a notch and go for softer colors, shall we? scarf: Banana Republic | dress: Splendid x Damsel in Dior (also available at Nordstrom) booties: Free People
A custom illustration for a colorful, trend-setting girl on the go. It's even cuter that it was commissioned by her husband as a Christmas gift - bravo! Surely he got major brownie points for this one.

One of the easiest patterns to wear in the fall is plaid. Lucky for you, this classic pattern is also a major trend this season. Throw on a plaid shirt and distressed denim and you're on point. Make it more streamlined with a check blazer or dress. Still not sure about the trend? Ease into it with a check handbag or other accessory. I love finding photos of the same people in the same outfit, with different angles, like these above. The images were found on different sites, but they're clearly all from the same day. Love that, love their looks, love her sage green Chanel. [ Sartorialist - Photodiarist - Street Peeper ]
