Barre workouts have been sweeping the nation for a few years now. I've been a fan from the beginning and continue to be one, especially this time of year when food is the focus. Don't forget to squeeze in a lift/tone/burn session before entering into a food coma Thursday.
A custom illustration for a mother/daughter real estate duo. Happy Labor Day weekend! Check back Monday for an exciting announcement...
people.com I decided that Drew Barrymore and Eva Mendes should be best friends in their vintage-inspired dresses, cat-eye sunglasses, and peep-toes. Pick your vinnie look......floral or gingham?
This photo of Julianne Hough popped up on people.com the other day and I was immediately smitten with this spring look. As my mom would say, it's the perfect "going to the store" outfit (mirrored shades included). [ prints available here ]
DID YOU KNOW: Baskin Robbins offers $1.50 scoops on the 31st of applicable months? It was a Jeopardy question the other day, so I've been counting down to the 31st of this month to indulge in the monthly special. Don't miss out... pick your favorite from their 31 flavors!
Last night I went to see Midnight in Paris with a friend. I had heard about the movie, or I guess I should say heard OF the movie, from the Cannes red carpet photos. But I never even saw the trailer for it, so I went into it pretty open-minded. Let's talk about the cast first: Owen Wilson (well played sir) Rachel McAdams (love her) Marion Cotillard (one of my personal faves) Adrien Brody (indifferent) Michael Sheen (Kate Beckinsale's baby daddy, Rachel McAdams is his new gf) and finally Kathy Bates (I have a hard time seeing her as anybody other than a mix of her Titanic character and her character in Failure to Launch....weird I know) All well casted, all well played, and a good mix of people in general. I don't want to give away the story line for those going to see it because it's so fantastically centered around one of MY favorite times, the 1920's (in Paris, obviously) and included references to some of the most famous artist to date (Degas, Dali, Hemingway, etc etc). Blah blah blah, let's talk about what they were wearing.....Rachel McAdams looked well put together, and how I would love to look when sight-seeing in Paris. Except for one thing, she had on a belt in e-v-e-r-y s-i-n-g-l-e scene. Slightly obnoxious, because we're not talking waist belts, we're talking sitting-low-on-the-hips belts. Case and point: Belts aside, she had a fabulous collection of purses (including Hermes and Dior) as well as the full set of Goyard luggage. Jealousy. Marion Cotillard's character got to wear fabulous flapper dresses while Owen Wilson's short ties killed me...... Other snapshots from the movie: all photos via here Overall, I found the movie to be lovely. I highly recommend it. Then, I wake up today to find these lovely photos on one of my favorite blogs, Karla's Closet, from her weekend trip to Paris, what a coincidence. Take me there now. Please.
It's still officially summer, but fall is oh so close... I can feel it. I've always loathed "fall colors" because they're just blah. However, one of my favorite color combinations right now is cognac + navy. It's perfect for these transitional months because it has a fall-feel but can be executed in lightweight/summery pieces. Throw this blazer over your summer go-to jean shorts and white tee for a more polished look. Another killer combo is a pair of distressed jeans and a sleeveless top layered with a long-line vest. Wear it with a heeled sandal for now // switch to a flared-leg jean, a long-sleeve tee and this ankle boot when the temps drop. If you need a place to start, a classic cognac bag like this one from Madewell is always a win. When clients circle back wanting new notecards for a new job, it completely makes my day! I loved working with Chrystal again, this time creating a design for her new career as a real estate agent. Congrats on the new role!
Today is the perfect day to introduce you to November 2013, also known as "Comfy Cozy". It's pouring down rain here (my favorite kind of day), and you have the feeling that you want to wear your pajamas all day. The only reason you need to leave the house is to get, you guessed it, more coffee... And if you HAVE to stop by a dinner or drinks gathering later, you just throw on a blazer instead of your cozy sweater and you're good to go! You can purchase the 2013 planner here! They're already selling like hot cakes, so I'm expecting them to sell out this year. Get them quick!
I wish I was daring enough to try something like this.... [ via Elle ] Purchase a print HERE.
Is anyone else fascinated by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry? Fascinated might be too strong of a word.... interested is more like it. I'm interested in everything they do, everything she wears, every detail about their upcoming nuptials (will anyone else be up in the middle of the night watching their ceremony, because I definitely will be). It doesn't hurt that she's been killing the coat game lately. She stepped out yesterday in this long overcoat, matching scarf and black wide-leg pants. Overall, completely chic and simple. But, I wonder... how does she take her coffee? Or does she nix it all together opting for tea instead? Any insight into this would be much appreciated. prints available here

I was reminded yesterday of an older sketch I did for the owner of the Pure Barre here in Nashville. Who's ready to Lift. Tone. Burn. ?? Happy weekend!

Got the Monday blues? Here's something that might help... Roksanda Ilincic's Resort '14 collection: The shoes. The colors. The details. I love it all. It literally took my breath away when I saw it. [photos all via style.com] I added the Rok print back in the print shop because, along with Kaftan, I think these three make a perfectly balanced bluesy-trio. : prints available here :
NY Fashion Week is, at this point, almost over. I have been pouring over the images from the runway everyday (sometimes all day). You can see my minute-by-minute posts over on Pinterest. One of my favorite shows so far has been Marc Jacobs. After his crazy hat craze from Fall '12, we had to spend a little time apart as I failed to see his point of view on that collection. But we're back together now, and his latest collection is perfection. So many stripes, so many cool cuts and details (scalloping everywhere).... I could go on and on. Even the exaggerated side swoop hair is genius. Really, you MUST see the collection in it's entirety. It's too good to miss. (Click here) images via style.com Purchase a print of Ms. Jacobs here. By the way, the 2013 planner launches tomorrow!!
Wishing you a Happy Halloween with a look inspired by the loveliest of lovely, Lauren Steele. cat ears: Forever 21

I teamed up with Drybar last year to create custom illustrations in tandem with a new product launch. I never got around to posting all of them here, but this week is the perfect time to share another as they just launched the new Baby Buttercup hair dryer. It folds up into nothing, so it's perfect for the girl on the go, the jet-setter, the one that (unlike me) can pack light. This illustration was created for the founder of Glossier, Emily Weiss. Glossier is making waves with their simply perfect cosmetic and skin care line. The collection isn't huge, but what they do, they do well. I can't wait to get my hands on the stretch concealer. Just a few of the custom projects I have been working on over the summer: For the bride-to-be: For the newly-weds: For the bridal party: For the graduate: For your best girlfriend(s): For an 80s themed party: For a lovely store: And for another lovely store, Neiman Marcus, featuring the Rachel Zoe collection for the Atlanta location's Fashion's Night Out event: And finally, one of my favorites, a "Boudoir Bash" bachelorette party invitation. Now, when I heard the theme I was a little nervous about how to execute this one. Then, I saw the couple's engagement photos. Done deal. How could I not center the whole thing around this dress?
It's always a good day when you spot your product in a magazine. I'm so flattered by the support not only of everyone on social media, but especially of my local Nashville community. A big thank you to the NL Weddings team for including me in your "Maid for Each Other" feature about the best bridesmaid's gifts. The weather completely tricked me into thinking fall was coming soon. We had a few days of more brisk temperatures followed by today which has been hot and humid, the story of summer in the south. However, fall is near. It really is. Even if the temperatures stay warm, we can start transitioning our wardrobes by introducing booties paired with lighter tops, sleeveless sweaters with shorts, sandals with a light sweater. September is basically the month where anything goes. It's still entirely too warm to bundle up in sweaters and boots, so go for more lightweight options while scanning the September issues to see what trends are heading our way. One trend that is going to be making huge waves this fall is velvet. Whether you wear a velvet tee, purchase a small handbag of the same material, or try to find the perfect velvet heel (like this one or this one), it's going to be big. Pick your piece, but remember to stick to one velvet item per outfit. Make your look even more on-trend by making your velvet a deep, fall-inspired floral. I love finding photos of the same people in the same outfit, with different angles, like these above. The images were found on different sites, but they're clearly all from the same day. Love that, love their looks, love her sage green Chanel. [ Sartorialist - Photodiarist - Street Peeper ]
One of the things I have noticed lately that I'm kind of loving is the fringe shoulder pads that closely resemble part of a marching band costume. Whether it's fringe, feathers, or fake hair....it is bound to make quite a statement.
This past weekend I had the pleasure of throwing a bridal shower for a dear friend, and (of course) I did the invitations. The bride has always been a huge fan of Anthro, so I thought this dress was fitting: Ivoire Dress
So I just returned from market in Atlanta last night and am still trying to recover. Pics on that coming later. For now.... ....ever see a spread like this in a magazine and wonder, what would that actually look like on a human? No fear....me to the rescue. Just kidding. I kept this page from the May '11 issue of InStyle because I loved the look. I want a white one-piece now.
