February 16, 2017 - St. Mark's United Church The Troop continued its Patrol Adventures this week with the Sting Rays finishing off their ScoutTrucks, while the Baseball Bats did some creative video work. A Troop Leadership Team meeting as well as a visit from our Deputy Area Commissioner for Scouts topped off the evening.
Stingray Hideaway at the Newport Aquarium is now one of my favorite things about this aquarium! It is such a cool space to hang out with stingrays! You can stand over the pool and pet the sting rays, or go under the pool through a tunnel and up through a tube to watch the stingrays up close. We were sad to hear that the otters have relocated to other aquariums, but it was exciting to see what the aquarium did with the space that formerly housed my son Sam’s favorite sea critter. My kids could have stayed in this room longer than any other section of the aquarium…they loved the velvety feel of the stingrays, and the rays were not shy at all, they almost seemed to want the attention of the kids! Stingray Hideaway is a great way to get up close with the stingrays, so make sure you visit them next time you are at the Newport Aquarium!
