"Stampin' Up! projects; paper craft & rubber stamping for card making, scrapbooking, off the page projects, craft techniques, bags, boxes & supplies."
One of Stampin' Up!'s new stamp sets that demos were able to preorder is named Sitting Here, and it was the first one that I opened when my order arrived. Actually, I only pre-ordered two stamp sets, so my options were limited. ;-) Isn't that swing adorable? I don't know if people really hang a swing that size from a tree branch, but I borrowed the inspiration for this card from a creation by Angela Lovel that I spied on Pinterest. I liked that she used the tree image from In the Meadow to create the overhanging branches, and I also used the grass image from that set along the bottom of my stamped layer. Sitting Here has some really fun images to work with (some nice sentiments, too), including an assortment of pillows, and there's even a dog, cat, and bird! I thought I had stamped a bird on the swing on this card, but he must have been on a different card . . . one that I either mailed or misplaced. Or maybe he flew away.
We have been contending with unseasonable weather here in central Wisconsin -- in the 80s and 90s -- as well as the wonderful humidity that often accompanies temps like these. I thought that by sharing this cool and shady card, we all might experience some relief from the weather. Don't you just feel drawn in to sit under this leafy bower and relax among the pillows? Maybe Mr. Bird would even stick close by to keep you company . . . The looks of this card is very deceiving. It appears to be a tall and narrow card, doesn't it? Just an optical illusion, as it measures the standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". It must be that wide expanse between the tree branches and the swing seat that gives it that feeling. The bower was a struggle for me to design. I still am not sure it is a success, but my husband and my Stamp-In girls liked it. Anyway, to get the leafy effect, I sponged Wild Wasabi through a retired leafy-looking mask that Stampin' Up! carried a few years ago. I kept moving the mask around and sponging so it would look a little more natural. When I finished the sponging, I still didn't like the look. So I drew in some vague leaves. At my Stamp-In workshop, I told the girls that for this card, they could do a little Interior Design. Ahem, Exterior Design. I set out a basket filled with bits and pieces of cardstock, and allowed them to choose their colors. Using the pillow stamps from the set, Sitting Here (page 55), the girls then added designs to their chosen swatches. The square and rectangular pillows needed to be fussy cut (easy!), but the round pillow could be punched out using the 3/4" Circle Punch. The two end pillows were merely adhered to the swing, while we used a Stampin' Dimensional to pop up the round pillow. Looks really REAL, doesn't it? . . . Narrow strips of Wild Wasabi-colored Designer Series Paper decorated the side edges of the card, while the main portion was popped up over them. Would you like to try your hand at re-creating this card -- just to get you through the summery autumn days? Check out the instructions below. SUPPLIES: Whisper White cardstock Marina Mist cardstock Wild Wasabi Designer Series Paper Assorted cardstock scraps for pillows Sitting Here stamp set (Page 55) Black ink Wild Wasabi ink Marina Mist ink Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker 3/4" Circle Punch Paper Snips Stamping Sponges Retired mask (or any leafy stencil you have) INSTRUCTIONS: Fold a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Whisper White cardstock in half, creasing it well with a bone folder. Add 1/2" strips of Wild Wasabi Designer Series Paper along the fold line as well as along the long opening edge. You will be doing your main work on a 3" x 5 1/2" piece of Whisper White cardstock. Start with the leaves on the top. Using the leafy-looking mask, sponge through with Wild Wasabi, moving it several times to make it look as leafy and natural as possible. You will be using up about a 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" at the top of the piece. Once you are finished sponging through the mask, use a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to draw in the illusion of leaves. Stamp the swing so it looks like it is coming out of the leaves. Stamp the bird on the back of the swing. Choose three colors for your pillows. Stamp the pillows and cut out the square one and the rectangular one. You can use the 3/4" Circle Punch on the round pillow. Arrange the pillows on the swing seat. You can use Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up any of the pillows you'd like. With the sponges, sponge Wild Wasabi ink along the edges with the leaves, followed by the remaining side edges in Marina Mist. Stamp THANKS at the bottom in black ink. Adhere this completed piece to the card base. If you desire, stamp a cat or dog or nothing or whatever inside the card. (Being a cat lover, I stamped the kitty inside my sample.) Stay cool! Leafy Smiles.

Today’s card is one that I made back in June when the stamp set, Sitting Here, was just released. Doesn’t the kitty look so relaxed sitting on the swing? I stamped the kitty and the pillows onto Whisper White cardstock and fussy cut them out. It gives a nice dimensional look to the card. The oval was […]
I finally had a chance to play with one of the stamp sets from the new Stampin Up! catalog. I was so excited to see it in the pre-order because it was one of the ones I really wanted! We used to have a porch swing at our first house, and I spend many quiet mornings sitting on it sipping tea and reading. When I saw the stamp set, it reminded me of those wonderful mornings and made me wish I still had one. Hmm, maybe I will ask for one for my birthday. In the first one I just stamped and colored it with markers, fussy cutting the pillow. I used the grass and flower stamps from In the Meadow. I am entering it in the Make My Monday In the Garden and Dragonfly Dreams Summertime challenges. In the second one, I colored the stamp with a marker and stamped on watercolor paper. Using the dry brush technique, I pulled some of the color from the image. I really like the way it turned out, although the photo doesn't really show it well. Thanks for stopping by. Leave a comment and tell me what you think. I love feedback!
Sitting Here I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful summer! Are you finding time to play in your craft room? Surely there are days when it’s too hot, too humid to be doing anything but making time in your craft room! We had some great examples of you all doing just that with […]

This new stamp set "Sitting Here" reminded me of a porch swing my dad built for us not long after my husband and I were married. Growing up, I always loved sitting on my Grandma's porch swing on her farm in the screened in porch. We would sit there and snap beans and just enjoyed the beautiful summer day. It really brought back some great memories. Now, I wished I had a screened in porch with a porch swing. I also used the set Awesomely Artistic stamp set for the flowers above the swing and colored them in with the new In-Color Sweet Sugarplum and Garden Green. The sky is So Saffron and the grass is Garden Green which I sponged. The swing is colored with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede for shadows. The pillow and cushion are colored in with Soft Sky and the new In-Color Dapper Denim. I had to add the cat because I have a gray tabby, so colored my cat with Smoky Slate. The shadow underneath the swing is Soft Suede. Just playing with this new stamp set, Sitting Here, for the first time today. I spent a lot of time on this one, as the images are finely detailed and I wanted to give it the attention it deserved. SO much fun! I think I especially love the pillows! Stamps: Sitting Here, Hardwood, Sheltering Tree Ink: Basic Black, Cucumber Crush, Dapper Denim, Flirty Flamingo, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Soft Sky, Smoky Slate,Cajun Craze Paper: Cucumber Crush, Soft Suede, Whisper White, Soft Sky Accessories: Post-It Notes, Dimensionals, Brayer, Sponges, Blender Pens Started with a 1/4 sheet of whisper white, trimmed down to 4 x 5 1/4. Stamped the swing image in Basic Black. I used blender pens to color in the image with ink, markers to highlight some of the darker areas and small lines. Using a large post it note, I stamped the swing image and hand cut it out and used as a mask for doing the background. Masking the swing image, I then used another post it note to mask along the base to stamp the hardwood floor in Soft Suede. Keeping the masks in place, used a sponge to sponge in Soft Suede all along the stamped floor area, swirling the sponge to coat evenly. Reversed the floor mask to cover up the hardwood floor, making sure to keep the swing mask in place, used a sponge and sponged Crushed Cucumber above the floor to make grass. Once you remove the mask for the swing and floor, use markers and blender pens to add color behind the slats in the swing and any open white areas missed because of the mask. It helps blend the edges too! Using a brayer, add Soft Sky ink along the remaining top of the card. I used a sponge to blend the remaining edges near the grass. Using Sheltering Tree stamped leafy branches along the top of the card above the swing ropes, using Cucumber Crush. I added some Flirty Flamingo flowers. I decided it needed a branch or a panel to hang the swing on so I added a Hardwood stamped strip of Soft Suede. Stamped some Crushed Curry Flowers along the grass top too. Stamped the bird, cat, flower pot, and pillow, and used markers to color the images. On the pillow and cat I used a touch of a Versamark marker around the edges after to give it a bit more 3D dimension. Cut them out by hand and adhered with dimensionals. For the flower pot, since it was difficult to cut out, I used Cucumber Crush to fill in between the flowers to make it look more realistic. Stamped the banner strip in Dapper Denim onto Soft Sky, adhered with dimensionals. Adhered card front to Cucumber Crush. So much fun, I love how it turned out. Thanks for looking today!

Hi there Today I have one of my favourite cards that I created for Onstage Local in Sydney. This was one of the Cucumber Crush samples and it uses the new 'Sitting Here' stamp set from the 2016-17 Annual Catalogue. It has a collection of elements that you can use together to create a lovely scene or use them individually as design elements on your other projects. The elements include the lovely swing, cat, dog, dog basket, cushions, bird and pot plant. I stamped this image from a friend who received this set for her display board stamping, so I...
