Encourage positive character traits as students earn badges for good behavior and values. Great for back to school to nurture emotional intelligence, a growth mindset, and healthy relationships at the beginning of a year. Students paste their achievement badges on their positive behavior chart. They can also brag on others to help them earn their badges when they identify character traits in them. 12 character traits are covered in this resource. Each has a color poster and black outlines for printing on colored paper to save ink. There is also a coloring page for each trait. Choose from charts with 12, 9 and 6 traits. If you'd like a different combination, print an extra sheet with 12 and cut and paste into the grid with 9 or 6 to suit your needs. Students earn a badge when they show the trait you are focussing on the number of times you have chosen (1-3 times). After your allotted time for learning that trait, move onto the next. Students may help others earn badges by reporting them for showing positive traits. Expand the activity by having groups help one another earn their teamwork badge. Set specific tasks to complete at home to encourage positive behavior outside school. Have students self-assess to identify traits that may need further practice.
