Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing a really neat origami project based on the movie Trolls! One of my son's best friends LOVES the new Troll movie. We haven't yet seen it, but I have such fond memories of Troll dolls as a kid, that I felt like I NEEDED to do a Troll craft. So tada! If you love Trolls or the new Troll movie, try your hand at making these tiny paper origami troll dolls! This post contains affiliate links. For my full disclosure policy, click here. Thank you for your support! I came up with this blog post after trying out some projects from this Easy Space Origami. After folding the paper alien with my son, I realized that I could tweak the project a bit to make Troll dolls instead. How to Fold Origami Troll Dolls Grab your origami paper. 1. Place your paper white side up. Then, valley fold the paper along the diagonals and open the paper up. (Note: This will make a white troll doll with blue hair. To make a blue troll doll with white hair, switch the colors in the photos and start off with the blue side up instead.) 2. Now fold the paper in half. 3. And then fold the paper in half again. 4. Turn your paper around so that the open edges are closer to you. If you stick your finger into the top flap, you should be able to pull the paper to create a triangle. Press down once you have a triangle. 5. Now flip around your paper around. We're going to make a triangle with the other side. To do this, move your paper flap side to side along the crease (to help the paper flatten down better.) 6. Stick your finger inside the flap again and you'll see a triangle start to form like in step 4. 7. Push down and you'll get a triangle on both sides. 8. Now fold up the two side corners to meet the top corner. 9. Flip your origami paper over and do the same to the other side. 10. Fold down both flaps and then lift them up to reveal creases. Flip your origami over and do the same to the other side. 11. Now we're going to open up the flaps. Stick your finger into a flap. 12. Keep sliding your finger over and push down to reveal a square. Do the same to both flaps. Then, flip your origami over and do the same thing to the other side. 13. Fold up the corners of each square to reveal the white underneath. Flip your origami over and do the same thing to the other side. 14. Now you're going to fold back one side. 15. Now fold back the other side. 16. Flip your origami over and fold back both sides again. 17. Now fold up the bottom triangle. Flip your origami over and do the same thing with the other side. 18. Now we're going to open up the troll's face. Ready? If you put your finger in the white part, you'll see that if you push down ... 19. And then pull up at the same time, you'll open up to reveal... 20. A troll! Push down on the face and you're all set. High five! You did it! Now grab your Permanent markers and crayons and start giving your troll dolls some personality. Goodness... that was a lot of steps. Hopefully they were clear and you now made yourself a whole bunch of colorful new friends. Looking for more unique and cute origami projects? Click here for more awesome origami projects.
