It’s surprising to me how underrated a travel destination Wales is. With its beautiful landscapes, magnificent castles, and colorful coastal towns, Wales is about as dreamy as it gets. Scotland and Ireland always seems to get all of the love while Wales gets overlooked. But truly, my favorite castle is in Wales - Conwy Castle, which is the first on this list. Some of the prettiest coastal towns in the UK are in Wales, like Aberaeron and Llandudno, and they sure give places like Brighton, England a run for their money. There’s so much to explore that makes it worth more than just a day trip from London to Cardiff (though that’s fun to do as well). I had the opportunity with Visit Wales to spend a week driving down the coast of Wales, starting in Manchester, England (where we flew in), and finishing in Cardiff. Our route took us through towns like Conwy, Tenby, Aberystwyth, Caernarfon, and more. It was truly hard to just pick the best of the best beautiful photo spots for this guide, but I feel like I’ve included some of the most Instagrammable spots that Wales has to offer.

THE BEAUTIFUL WATERFALLS OF WALES There are many things that Wales is known for. The Snowdonia National Park, the Brecon Beacons, beautiful coastlines, castles, dragons and sheep to name but a few, but one thing I have discovered and had the chance to witness myself more recently are the impressive number of beautiful waterfalls scattered around the country. The great thing about the five waterfalls that I have chosen below, is that they are fairly accessible to most. Trust me, I am not going to be trekking through the forests for hours to get to a waterfall (well apart from in YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK perhaps). So without further ado, and in no particular order let’s take a look at what’s on offer. 1. SWALLOW FALLS We’ll start off in North Wales. SWALLOW FALLS (Rhaeadr Ewynnol) is located about 2 miles outside of the scenic town of Betws-y-Coed on the edges of Snowdonia. Being one of the most visited locations in the area, there is a large car park on the opposite side of road at the Swallow Falls Hotel, and also a layby where you can park if there is space available. There is a £2 entrance fee at a […]

A small bay backed by dunes and pine trees, accessible only by a half mile walk from the nearest car park. Swathes of golden sand and crystal clear waters, Barafundle has been voted many, many times as one of the best beaches in Britain and the world; it’s often likened to a Caribbean beach! This pristine beach is isolated which means no facilities - so everything you take has to come back up over the cliffs. Green Coast and Seaside Award (Rural) award winning beach. Not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs due to steep steps down to the beach from the cliff top. Cafe and toilets at Stackpole Quay (National Trust car park) and pub in Stackpole Village. Dogs are allowed.
With “Welcome to Wrexham” landing the North Wales city on the international radar, what else is hiding among the region’s more famous scenic draws? Quite a lot.

“Mon, I didn’t know you were going away. Are you in Italy!?” This was a text message I received from a friend immediately after I’d posted a photo from Portmeirion on Facebook.
