Drawing is the first step to many forms of visual arts and mastering this can help you draw, paint, sculpt and do many other artistic things. Many artists and art teachers tend to push this fact into the minds of art students because it is essential to master this simple but really difficult part of art. And you have to admit that drawings done skillfully can have a deep impact on your senses and leave you wondering how the artist managed to bring such depth and details into such a seemingly simple form of art. That is why if you are considering taking up some form of art or the other, we would advise you to look at easy step by step art drawings to practice so that you come to grips at the foundations of art. Once you do, you may find that you like this basic of visual arts more than any other aspect. One can also find that drawing with black ink will help in creating depth and a textured look as needed.

When it comes to art and the type of art they are into, there is a chance that an artist feels that they have a lot more to explore in their chosen medium or they may think that they have achieved their potential in their medium. When the latter happens, the artist would like to sometimes look at the same art he or she has been doing from a different perspective. We are sure that negative space art is the result of one such foray by some genius artist. To define negative art, you would have to imagine that an artist creates an object or outline not by coloring it in but by coloring the surface and leaving the outline free of color. We are sure that even if our definition of negative space art confused you, the images we have provided will clear the concept for you. There is a chance that primitive and descriptive cave paintings could have used this concept.

The black background and the white drawings, really work in unison, to show off these black and white illustrations at their best. Australian Illustrator Justin Estcourt, has this to say about his work: "Painting the light in a vast universe." I really like his work, but specifically the contrast, that the colors of his chosen medium gives to the finish piece. Only the 13th drawing of this post, stands separate from the rest, showing off a more traditional white background with a black drawing. Mostly space themed, these drawings have had a very mellowing effect on me. A real relaxed feeling enveloped me, by the time I got to the last one on the page.
