About Max Lamb is a British designer who combines traditional - if not prehistoric - design methods with contemporary design. With the Wiggle project that he conceived for Bitossi Ceramiche he has developed a new manufacturing technique using an old tool by wire cutting slabs of clay and constructing box-like vessels from the cut slabs. The wiggled wire creates a wave-like surface enriched and underlined by the glazes. \n \nEstablished in 1921 by the heir to a long line of Italian potters and kiln workers, the "Maioliche artistiche Guido Bitossi" factory produces many of the most recognizable ceramics of the 20th century. The Bitossi brand has long embodied a type of production still linked to the tradition and classical styles of the past, inspired by their location a mere twelve miles from Florence, combined with research and a study on the ceramics products. The effect is modern, yet timeless ceramic objects and vessels that are an instant collectible and family heirloom.
