Beaverton City Park: Reviews from families visiting Beaverton City Park. We decided to beat the heat with a trip over to the Beaverton City Park Fountain. This is a local favorite and can get quite busy, but we had great luck with the crowd today. There is a playstructure geared for the slightly older kids (there are plenty of areas to drop off and the wobbly bridge is a bit slick when wet kids have been across it a few times). There are some things that will be interesting for kids in the 20-ish month set like the slide, the wheels you can turn (both stearing and the tick-tack-toe), and the massive abbacus. There are also a few swings and some picnic tables. There are also bathrooms and the ice cream trucks go by fairly frequently. There is also a permenent food stand that sells Thai food and all sorts of coffee drinks (we didnt partake, so I am not exactly sure what their menu looks like but that is what the side of the building said). The main draw on hot days is the fountain. Water sprays out of the ground in 3 lines, so kids or parents, can go running through and cool off. The jets are at different hights so smaller kids dont have to get blasted by the big jets, and can go in easy. There are other things that take place at the park. On warm summer nights they do "Flicks at the Fountain" where families can come and watch movies outside (see website for details and movies playing). http://www.beavertonoregon.gov/community/flicks_fountain.aspx There is also a Farmers Market every Wednesday at the park (so you can play and shop...making everyone in the family happy). http://www.beavertonfarmersmarket.com/ Being right across the street from the library, you could really make an entire day of it too! It is worth checking out!
