About The Artwork I painted this piece late in October, perched above Sedona, AZ. I awoke just before sunrise and made my way to a hiking trail from which I overlooked this scene. The drama of the casting shadows lured my eye and drew me to capture them in paint. The light moved fast and before I could finish the piece, the shadows were gone. Determined to complete my painting, I returned the next morning and was able to bring the work to culmination.
