Mosaic clay tile set featuring a gorgeous Prickly Pear paddle cactus with flowers and fruit from the cactus. This is a custom glaze that I created randomly by mixing a lime green speckled glaze with a more traditional lizard green colored glaze and it is an eye catcher. This combination turned out very nice with the bright speckles and fine black ribbon like threading that mimics the sharp quills of the cactus. 5 pretty pink blooming flowers are included as well as the 3 leftover fruits. You can arrange the layout of this cactus in any shape you want. Free shipping included. This is an original design, not mass produced, hand rolled, hand cut and glazed by hand. The tile set is ready to be installed into your mosaic. The tiles have been hand rolled out to about 1/4" thick but due to the nature of the handmade process and not machine fabricated size and thickness can vary from tile to tile. The tiles are receive their initial base glaze and fired to a cone 5 temperature (about 2160 degrees F) and 24 hours later the detail glaze is applied again by hand and they go through another firing in the kiln at a cone 04 (about 1980 degrees). I create these tiles from my small studio located in Henderson, Nevada.
Opuntia Engelmannii Spiny Texas Prickly Pear Cactus Plant Pad Cuttings This listing is for pads from Opuntia engelmanii, commonly known as spiny Texas prickly pear. Engelmann’s Prickly Pear is a large, fast growing, and very durable cactus. It has the potential to reach the size of 5’ to 6’ tall and 8’ wide, however, with trimming it can be kept much smaller. The pads of this wonderful plant are ovate shaped and loaded with clusters of 1” stiff, white spines. The pads can range in size from 6” to 12” wide, making it a great barrier or security planting. Because it is a cactus / succulent, it’s water needs are very minimal and it can do quite well in full sun exposure. In the late spring it produces lovely flower clusters ranging in color from yellow to peach. Those flowers become a valuable purple fruit used to create jams, jellies, syrups, drinks and several other delicious food concoctions! This plant is certainly versatile and you will want it in your garden if you live in a moderate temperature climate (sustained temps below 15 degrees Fahrenheit would not be advised)! Please note: we will cut the spines off of the pads that we ship to you for handling purposes. Rest assured that as your plant matures it will grow new spines. Planting instructions will be included with your purchase! The first thing you'll need to do is let the pads finish the scabbing-over process by drying out in the shade - that will be detailed out for you in the instructions. ** Please note: It could take us several days to get your order prepared. We take your cuttings FRESH TO ORDER, and gather them approximately twice a week. Thank you! ** * International orders can only be processed if plants aren't prohibited by your country. *
Opuntia Phaeacantha, aka Prickly Pear Cactus, Tulip Prickly Pear, or Desert Prickly Pear, is a species of cactus found across the southwestern United States, lower Great Plains, and northern Mexico. It is a succulent shrub or tree growing to 5m in height with a defined trunk that branches at the top. These branches are a cute egg shape in outline but with a narrower end at the base. It is not poisonous but watches out for their spines. They love as much sun as possible. The best spot for them is where they can see the sun during the majority of the day. They will do best in bright light. A nice bright place inside your home would be on the window sill or a stool that is right next to a window, either with or without blinds, depending on if the plant can handle sun. Remember that plants will grow based on how much light they receive. They like the soil to be completely dry before the next watering. That can take about 4 weeks in an average home environment. It will vary depending on the time of year, your environment and lighting conditions, but for them, it's always safer to underwater or water when you see signs of lack of water (i.e. wrinkly or soft leaves). Water a little more often in the warmer months. Their humidity requirement is low, so do not mist them or put them in a terrarium. They will like a bright, warm spot in your home, but avoid watering them too much. This plant is moderately toxic and can cause some adverse reactions when ingested so it is best to not let your pets eat it, which we advise for all plants in general. The severity of the reaction will depend on how much of the plant is ingested but, if you know your pet typically does not eat your plants, this plant will be suitable for your home.

We do this in order to ensure the safest possible delivery to you. Your plant might not display the same colors as those pictured. Please allow for some variance amongst live plants. Please also note that the plant will be traveling in a dark box, so it might lose some brightness. _________________________ Succulent Care Be sure to use a well-drained soil, such as cactus mix. They need bright light, but be cautious with full sun in hotter climates. Always transition plants slowly into sun, morning sun or partial sun to start, moving into more in 6-8 days, depending on your unique climate. Succulents must dry out between waterings, but water fully, to the point the water runs out the bottom of the pot. Do not allow water to sit if you use a saucer beneath the plant pot. Don't water again until soil is completely dry. Watch closely to learn best practices, given your climate and growing conditions. This cactus is native to Northern Mexico and Arizona’s desert regions. It has flat wide stems that bear prickles. In the wild they will produce an edible fruit called tunas. With the right care, prickly pear can produce brightly coloured flowers at the top of the stems. Like it's name suggests, this cactus is one spiky plant - so please handle with care.
