Saratoga Springs, New York, USA, is a city (pop. about 26,586). The Algonquian-speaking Mahican Indians were pushed out by European settlement, both Dutch and English colonists, and the English built Fort Saratoga in 1691. By the 19th century, mineral water-rich Saratoga Springs was developed as a spa, with many large hotels. I passed through the horse racing town in 2006 on my way to Canada. The Greyhound stopped at the local station, where we had a fifteen minute break.
