ROY LICHTENSTEIN Screen Print Paper Plate 1969 Limited Edition from On 1st Inc., 1969 Comes with a Charles Scott Gallery Letter of Authenticity This is quite a unique piece of art! It is a paper plate! The plates were commercially printed and wrapped in clear cellophane in packages of 10 for sale at Bert Stern's On 1st store. Correspondence found in the artist's records indicates that the plates may have been fabricated at Artmongers manufactory, New York. Paper Plate is related to other designs the artist produced for dishware, such as the limited-edition place settings produced by Jackson China Co. for durable Dish Company in 1966, and the tea service designed for the Rosenthal China in 1984. Photographer Bert Stern commissioned Lichtenstein to design paper plates for Stern’s store On 1st, located at 1159 First Avenue at 63rd Street in New York. The plates were packaged in sets of ten for $1.00. Screenprint in in yellow, red and blue on white paper plate. Edition is unknown but limited, Paper and image size is approx. 10" x 10". Stamped on the back: Roy Lichtenstein © On 1st Inc. 1969 CONDITION: Excellent condition. We will include a Charles Scott Gallery Letter of Authenticity. PROVENANCE: From the Mark N.
