Johannes Vermeer painted The Girl With The Pearl Earring. Coming from the Netherlands myself, the land of M.C. Escher and Droste, I felt it was appropriate to make this painting recursive and turn her earring into her own portrait, so she is now the pearl herself. The Droste effect is based on recursive imagery. We used to have a tin container with a picture of a nurse, holding a tray with amongst other things a tin with Droste cocoa (in Holland known as cacao), with on it the nurse holding the tray etc etc. Escher was also very familiar with recursive imagery and created different forms of recursion. Inspired by all these great ones, here is my version. May she inspire and may she live forever. Printed on high-quality canvas and folded around a lightweight frame to give a gorgeous, gallery-ready appearance. With acid-free ink that will last without fading or chipping, Features a scratch-resistant UV coating. Wipes clean easily with a barely damp lint-free cloth.
