Amphimachairodus is a genus of prehistoric lion-sized machairodonts with narrow heads and blade-like upper canines. Males were much larger than females. They were closely related to other scimitar-toothed species such as Homotherium and Xenosmilus and inhabited Eurasia and Northern Africa from the Miocene to the Pleistocene: 11.6 mya—126,000 years ago.
