Hello Creative Bloggers, Today is the day of the "Where Bloggers CreateII" blog party and I'm thrilled to be a part of it! For those who are visiting my blog but don't know what this is about, Karen Valentine of My Desert Cottage is hosting the second annual 'party' for all creative bloggers. It's a great way to be inspired by other artists, designers, scrappers, etc. I'm always getting new ideas on how to decorate my room by visiting these wonderful bloggers. If you want to visit these creative spaces, hop on over to Karen's blog: My Desert Cottage I am a scrapper, a paper artist, and a collector of anything that appeals to my senses! I scour flea markets, yard sales and sometimes The Dollar Tree for items that can be used in unusual ways for storage or in my art. I try to incorporate my layouts and mini albums (another obsessions of mine) around the room because they inspire me to continue to create. My daughter is a scrapper as well, hence the amount of stuff we own! As you browse through my room, you'll notice a teddy bear hear and there or perhaps a folksy doll--that's because I collect them and love to have them hang out with me. They add a bit of charm, I think. I also LOVE anything with a vintage feel or look to them, although they actually aren't that old. I'm also a tactile person and I love to have lace and ribbon and other items that can be picked up and touched. Besides teddy bears and dolls, I'm a lover of birdhouses and you'll find a few of them hanging (or perhaps sitting on a bookshelf or two) around the room as well. I hope that as you tour my little creative space, you'll find out more about me and will become inspired as well. That is my gift to you--to be inspired as I am inspired by you! So without further adieu, here is my scrap room where I spend a great portion of my days when I'm not working! It might not be the fanciest or the prettiest or the biggest, but it's mine and I am happy here---that's what counts, right?! I hope you enjoy this tour. Please leave a comment and if you like what you see on the rest of my blog, please sign up as a follower. Above shows my computer desk to the left of the room as well the the shelves to the left of the window. Above shows the right side of the window and a portion of my desk. My scrap desk where it all happens! This desk faces the front porch. To the left are the shelves shown above and to the right is the door to enter the room. This is another view of the desk. I covered the fronts of the Sterilite drawers with paper because I don't like having the contents showing--it just looks cluttered that way. I then labeled the drawers with flower shaped sticky and a round tag. A closeup of the shelving unit which is to the right of the window seat and to the left of my desk. My Ribbon Storage. I created 'cards' (similar to floss cards) from posterboard and then wrapped my ribbon around each one. They're stored in a Pyrex casserole dish basket! This is the window seat between the two shelving units. I disply mini albums that I've received from swaps and those that I've made here. My daughter (also a scrapper) stores here layouts on the bottom shelf. Closeup of the Mini's I received. The foliage one, though, I created from corrugated cardboard and plastic! Mini's that I created from kits. Another view of the shelving unit. The pile of decorative boxes on the floor hold mini album kits. The boxes holding mini album kits and other assorted item to create them. The brass stand in front holds decorative scissors and colored pencils. I scour flea markets and yard sales for items that I think will look good in my room and be useful for storage. The scissors are in a used flower pot (cleaned, of course!) and the colored pencils sit in a reproduction tin coffee pot. Above is one of my ink storage ideas. I found this at a yard sale and it was the perfect size for storing stamps. My Wall Art is displayed here to the left of my desk. The bookcase to the left of my scrap desk that holds my Cricut, Cuttlebug, cartridges, circle cutters and other larger tools of the trade. This is the top of the black bookcase. I love teddy bears and soft dolls so you're apt to see them scattered about the room. The wire basket holds fabric and large pieces of lace. The crystal bowl holds decorative ribbons and the pink sequin crown is my Diva Crown! This is on the bottom. I have Stickles stored in a basket and in the other basket are other smaller tools--stapler, Tim Holtz stamper with felt pads, distresser, etc. The 'bird' box holds even more tools! Paper rack to the left of my computer desk. I also have a narrow and tall book case that stores CD's, photo albums, composition books for altering, and partial mini albums. I store even more of my mini albums on the top of the paper rack. Can you tell I LOVE mini's!! My notebooks (which I need to relabel) are to the left of the computer desk. I have ALOT of articles stored in these notebooks. I've decorated the top of the bookcase with a vintage suitcase in which I store stencils along with a folk art doll; a small vintage sewing box and vintage books. My computer desk where I blog! A narrow drawer unit that sits by my desk for easy access to punches, mini album suppies and art supplies. Button and Ribbon Storage I hope you enjoyed my scrap space. Have a wonderful day!
