Consistency, in most areas of life, is built on doing what works for you. If something helps you move forward and doesn’t harm anyone else, embrace it unapologetically. Even on days where I have had low energy, or during times my mental health wasn’t great, I found something that helped me out of bed in the morning was the promise of creativity and self-expression. I’d tell myself, ‘If you get up, you can spend time putting together a cute outfit and doing your hair and makeup. It might help you feel a little better.’ And it did— every single time. Sometimes, it’s the simplest things, like getting dressed, that can reignite your motivation. If it inspires you to take on the day, makes you feel more confident, or helps you show up as your best self, use it as the tool it is.
