Update Feb. 3, 2015. I found my work used without permission and misrepresented on a blog. Many Pinterest pins ensued. I have now completed a free, information-packed tutorial on how to make these beads. karenascofield.wordpress.com/2015/01/26/tutorial-on-how-t... ********** Original Test Below ********* My work is copyrighted and you may not use pictures of it without my written and explicit permission. Approximately 2 inches tall. Handmade, each one is a little different. Some design elements on the beads are raised and hand colored under a magnifying glass with mica powders. Other design elements, such as the spiral and some textures, are indented using stamps. Some beads may wear a (inexpensive or Swarovski) rhinestone or semiprecious stone in their navel (always room for correspondences). Before they are considered finished, beads are sealed with Water Based Varathane Diamond Polyurethane Interior (what polymer clay artists use) that bonds with the clay at a molecular level. From designing and then conditioning clay to the last dip in the sealant, each bead can take from about 1 to 2 or more hours of hands-on time to create. These beads can last hundreds of years if treated with care (avoid exposure to cleaning products or chlorine, for instance). Karen A. Scofield originals. :)
