About Michele Luger addresses the unknown, the hidden away, and deep feelings of nostalgia, for a place or time you've never lived. In her collage work, she explores the ways in which we mask our true feelings with feelings society finds acceptable, making us false and unrecognizable to even ourselves. She often works by “cutting” around the images she wants to save, so the paint creates a collage feel without physically cutting and pasting. She also collages her own drawings with images pulled from magazines and newspapers.
