Dancing Maples makes a great autumn runner in fall colours, or a wonderful piece of Canadiana in red and white. This is an original quilt pattern for a table runner measuring 16” x 42” and six placemats measuring 12" x 17". Janet has added her own take on rolled-back folded bias edges to give these leaves curves and apparent movement as they interlock and float above the background, but there is no curved piecing. This is sometimes called Cathedral Window curves. Avoid directional prints for the leaf and background fabrics because the fabrics will be cut and sewn on various angles. You can make six identical leaves or collect six - 10" fabric squares to make scrappy leaves. __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ Intermediate (3 spools out of 5) This quilt pattern is suitable for the quilter with intermediate rotary cutting and piecing skills.
