The Phyang Monastery was established in 1515. The current head ‘Lama’ or teacher is His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche. Drikung Kagyu is one of the eight "minor" lineages of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism.
