In the related novena, we pray and entrust our specific “knots” to Her loving hands, learning how to let go of that which binds us. To be free of the weight of our own chains means our hearts and minds are free to accept God’s mercy and begin to do His will in our lives. Deep in the thick of infertility I sought the consolation of Mary, Undoer of Knots. Years of praying for healing left me feeling broken, isolated, and despaired, causing a huge rift in my relationship with God, darkening almost every aspect of my life. In January of 2016 I turned to Our Lady to do what I’d been doing for years: to pray for healing. (Okay, to pray for a baby...) Upon finishing the novena, I felt something telling me “July.” July came and went uneventfully, but for the first time in the four years of struggling I had peace in my heart for whatever God’s will was. I figured I’d misinterpreted the message. After my Napro physician shared his opinion that we’d likely never be able to have a biological child we poured our hearts into the process we’d quietly begun months earlier: adoption. Our amazing son was born and entrusted to us by his first mama in October of 2017. (His story is also full of miraculous details of God’s providence, but it’s not mine to tell.) Three weeks after his birth I discovered against every logical explanation that I was expecting a baby who was born almost exactly nine months after our son... In July. Only later would I remember the quiet message of affirmation from the powerful Mother who helped to bring about healing not only of my heart but also of my body. This image is a reimagined rendering of the original Baroque painting on which the devotion is based. Since it was an artist’s work and not based on an apparition, I took liberties with the appearance. She is typically depicted face down, attention focused on untying knots in her hands, surrounded by angels who have brought the tangled ribbons of plaintants’ lives to her. I wanted to show her motherly but powerful, gazing toward the devoted with reassurance of her love and powerful intercession. I chose to include important symbolism from the original painting: Mary with a crown of twelve stars adorning Her head, a sign of Her Queenship of the Apostles, whom she consoled and counseled after Jesus’ earthly departure, a blue mantle representing her glory as Queen of the Universe, her feet crushing the head of the serpent indicating her victory over Satan. She is suspended between heaven and earth, resplendent with light. I chose to omit the angels to center the viewers’ focus on Mary and her loving gaze.
Create sacred space in the everyday with beautiful Catholic Christian wall art and home décor! In this image, husband and wife unite with a kiss. The backdrop is a monstrance, unveiling the Blessed Sacrament, from which emanate the rays of Divine Mercy - a sign of the transforming love of the Holy Spirit. The Church is the virgin bride of Christ, her divine Groom, and Christian marriage the symbol and incarnation of Christ’s spousal love for His Church. As we were created in God’s image, we are also called to love in His image: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another” (John 13:34). This picture makes an inspiring and meaningful engagement gift, wedding gift or anniversary gift for devout Catholic couples. A Giclee print is nothing short of SPECIAL – a piece to last a lifetime. “Giclee” refers to a superior form of fine art printing, designed to translate a work of art into a print that preserves all the colour, detail and vibrance of the original. Giclees far exceed digital prints because: • They capture a wider array of colours. Giclee printers use 10-12 different archival-certified lightfast inks, whereas the digital printing process uses only 4 inks. • They require very high resolution and much finer spray. • They can handle a variety of substrates including heavy, textured paper and canvas. • Their reproductions are archival, lasting 100+ years without deterioration or yellowing. HAHNEMULHE PHOTO RAG: Photo Rag is Hahnemühle's flagship paper: a white, 100% cotton paper with a subtle surface texture, meeting the highest industry standards to create high quality fine are prints. LYVE ROLLED CANVAS: Lyve is considered one of the best fine art canvases for reproductions, finished with a timeless matte varnish. Rolled canvas prints come with a two-inch white border. All prints come with a one-page writeup in the form of a spiritual reflection, written by the artist, Adelaine Nohara. Copyright © 2022 Adelaine Nohara.

La Anunciación. George Hitchcock Pintura al óleo sobre lienzo.
Blood had a mystical connotation to the ancient Hebrews that is a bit hard for us to grasp today, as we tend to see it scientifically in terms of its function to carry oxygen and nutrients to the cells of the body. But in ancient times, it was considered more like the life essence of a creature, second only perhaps to breath. We are “washed in the Blood of the Lamb” because nothing less than the very life of God was sufficient as a sacrifice to redeem us from our sins. This is as true today as it ever has been, and ever will be. Per spiritu sanctu semet ipsum obtulit immauclatulatu deo is Latin which translates as, “By the Holy Spirit, he offered himself undefiled to God.” Christ was God and at the same time Man, and as man, a perfect, undefiled man. This beautiful picture is the Eucharist on the altar. It was done by Benedictine monks in the 19th Century in the school of art centered at their monastery in Beuron, Germany. The style is called Beuron (pronounced BOY–ron), and it was religious art deliberately distinct from anything else of the day. They used an invisible plan of triangles and circles (of which each piece has many intricately arranged) to achieve a platonic structure in their art. They were reaching for holiness and perfection to help the viewer in their worship and meditation of God. We hope that this restored picture helps you in your worship and meditation of our Lord.
