Imagine a world where your dreams and the way they distort reality can be reproduced on canvas, paper or some other material on which artists paint. Doesn’t that sound amazing? Well, if you are the type to let your imagination take over and rule over your interest in the world of art, then you will like it surrealism and the paintings that are inspired by it. The thing about surrealism is that it strives to represent the images of the unconscious mind making it very bizarre albeit fascinating to look at. In fact, taking a teenager to look at surrealistic art is the best way on how to involve teenagers in art projects.

He began studying at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts under Leon Pohle and Paul Mohn. How do you feel about classical art? Whether you take an annual trip to the Louvre or your idea of classical art is the paintings on the walls at your grandmother’s house, there’s no question that artists from hundreds of years ago were impressive. Copenhagen based Lithuanian artist Lolita Pelegrime brings to life a striking female figure in the art print Madame E. Set against a vibrant blue backdrop, the central character draped in yellow is caught shielding her face from the direct sun. Capturing this simple yet striking gesture, Pelegrime uses thick strokes of oil paint on canvas to build up her compositions – her process adding a high level of detail and depth that helps capture a moment caught in time. Lolita Pelegrime is a Lithuanian artist, living and working in Copenhagen since 2012. Growing up with a multitude of women in her family, she developed a deep appreciation for their stories and experiences, which are often reflected in her artwork. Lolita obtained a bachelor’s degree in ceramics at the Art Academy of Vilnius, complementing her earlier education at the Kaunas School of Applied Arts and the Kaunas Antanas Martinaitis School of Art. Her paintings have been exhibited in Denmark, Lithuania, and Germany, among others. Want to add a frame? Art can give us a better understanding of our emotions and the world we live in. Even though some art pieces can be difficult to comprehend, they might provoke one to think and find his or her own meaning. Art is often connected to human emotions. In the process of creating art, artists express what they are concerned or curious about. In this way, they explore their own thoughts and feelings and at the same time encourage the public to engage in the journey of meaning-making.
