He presents a parallel between Eve and Mary, describing how "the knot of Eve's disobedience was loosed by the obedience of Mary. For what the virgin Eve had bound fast through unbelief, this did the virgin Mary set free through faith." Mary’s faith becomes a conduit here in the imagery of a Celtic knot, representative of the intwined Trinity and the eternal Godhead. Note: This project is part of a forthcoming book by Christine Valters Paintner. A spiritual director living in Galway, Ireland, Christine’s books include - The Soul’s Slow Ripening: 12 Celtic Practices for Seeking the Sacred; The Soul of a Pilgrim: Eight Practices for the Journey Within; and a soon to be released second book of poetry, The Wisdom of Wild Grace, to list a few.
