I've been so busy that I can't decide whether I'm coming... ...or going. I am infatuated with these miniature strawberry mice and am currently designing a project to go along with them. The mice are quick and easy to make and best of all, you can't have just one. Before you know it, you'll be building yourself a whole colony. I'm pretty sure of it. I did want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your encouraging comments and emails. I'm always taken aback by your generous and kind words. I will be back as soon as I tend to a few pressing matters. Until then....take care...be well! Aloha!

I'm doing a little re-organization in the studio; maybe that is organization. Not re-organization. So I've pulled out all my paints and organized them by color into plastic tubs. I'm putting up some pegboard, which is really painful to do with my arthritic right hand (right handed with a drill driver), but it will be worth it. The goal is to have easy access to my paints and tools (shelves, etc, on the peg board), and to be able to put them away and clear the decks for new projects at any given time. I need to be able to shift gears more easily. I generally keep my tools in similar plastic tubs, but each tub contains all the tools I need for Project X, or Technique Y. When seeking a bone folder or a painting knife or a squeegee I have to paw through multiple tubs in endless search. How do you organize your paints and tools and surfaces? Love to know. Please comment - I have to moderate comments because of bot/spam comments, but I check every day for those 'awaiting moderation'. Thanks! I have another box for just the Cadmium reds, Pyrrole reds, and oranges. This one is for the outliers such as pinks, magenta, and my beloved Quinacridone Gold. Can a pillow and books on a chair (painting available) be a table ...or does a table have to be a flat surface with legs (painting available)... What is your answer to this question? I say a table can be made of from many things... do you agree? Please be sure to see other tables today via Between Naps on the Porch... perhaps there are other tables that are not EXACTLY tables... and do come back tomorrow... A poodle and I have a little message! ENJOY!

Lana Gomez is one of my FAVORITE artists! I have a deep love for Abstract work. I love the ability it has to make me feel happy, sad, relaxed, nostalgic and how it somehow always boosts my own creativity. All of these emotions are pulled out of me simply by the colors, lines and shapes of the piece. Without a definite object my mind has the freedom to explore. This makes every piece personal. It's the story behind the story. I believe Abstract art can help uncover deep rooted thoughts and emotions that one didn't even know were brewing just underneath the surface. It's a magical feeling to get swept away by a cerulean blue or magenta with splashes of burnt orange and teal. The mix and directional strokes of these colors may calm your nerves and make the world seem like a more rounded place or you may simply be reminded that every little thing is gonna be alright! :) Either way art is a powerful thing! Which brings me back to Miss Lana Gomez. Lana is an artist who studied art at the University of Tennessee and then moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career. I love the intensity of her pieces. I put together some of my favorites for you to enjoy! To see more of her stunning work please visit www.lanagomez.com LANA GOMEZ I believe everyone possesses a creative flow that allows them to communicate in their own unique way; painting is how I express this notion. When I paint, I allow spontaneity to drive my creative process. My work reflects the lens through which I see the world – whether in color, shape or form. Each of my paintings pays homage to a remarkable nostalgic moment in my own life. It is my intention that when others experience my work, they will reflect on these types of moments in their lives while connecting to and feeling inspired by my own. -Lana Gomez Bubble Bobble watercolor Deer Hill Acrylic, mixed media Passion watercolor Are Unicorns Real? Hello sweet friends ! While shopping for wall paint to do on our guest rooms we are remodeling, I 'remembered' to buy some spray paint in Black and White to paint a silver, tarnished pitcher in the 'Mackenzie-Childs' style I saw on Pinterest one very similar and got inspired ASAP ! I've been so busy and my house is upside down because of the hard work remodeling the bathroom, walking closet and two rooms that was my DDs before and now guest rooms and to say the least of all the dust I'm swallowing everyday ! For the friends that haven't followed me lately, it's a mayor and 'total' remodel of everything in the two guest rooms and bathroom, as it was way over due. We are in the third week and it's almost there. Anyhow, I bought the spray paint and hubby said: 'Where are you going to work in this house in such chaos ?!' I said, I'll just wait till later, no biggie. I mentioned this to my friend and she said: My hubby will do it for you. I said, really? She said yeah. To make the story short. I gave it to him and here it is my-his DIY Mackenzie-Childs pitcher as a flower vase. You judge for yourself. I love it !! Didn't the 'Mackenzie-Childs Inspiration' pitcher came out adorable ? The before tarnished, very old silver pitcher and the black and white spray paint I bought for the job. Our friend sanded it down first, then painted the whole thing in white. Waited till the paint was totally dry the following day, to be sure. The following day he placed masking tape forming checks and the squares showing, he proceeded to spray paint them in black. He makes it sound easy, but hubby said that it might have been a very 'daunting and difficult job' and he was so glad he didn't volunteer, ever ! (lol) I'm loving it and now I'm thinking what else to do in M.CH's. style! I will DIY myself next time, maybe something in wood, or whatever ! Notice the inside of the pitcher's peak in stripes. Look how pretty the inspiration I found on Pinterest is... and hey, these are DIY too! While they were painting the girls wooden book shelves in the guest rooms, hubby had the four kitchen chairs painted off white as well. I use the fourth chair in the laundry room and I bring it when there's more people. We eat six in the kitchen's farm table, sometimes. Hope in another full week it will all be finished and then I will be decorating; the best part of any remodel. Thank you dear friends for your sweet visits, you always make my day !
