Witam, dzisiaj chciałam zachęcić do wykonania prostej kartki świątecznej wykorzystując technikę iris folding. Należy zwrócić uwagę by nasza strona gdzie widać ślady ołówka była skierowana do góry. Teraz przystępujemy do pracy. Paski naklejamy w kolejności numerów od 1 do 16, pamiętając by zachować kolejność kolorów. A następnie przystępujemy do ozdabiania naszej kartki.

In my previous post, I reviewed Paper Folding Templates, by Trish Witkowski (Apple Press, 2012). The author expressed the desire for the templates to be used as "a springboard for creativity". Today's blogpost projects are based upon a couple of the wow-factor designs in the book. First up, a couple of Fold 'n' Twist Cards, based upon the Twist Fold card on page 151: The design is true to the template, whose design lines are similar to these: I simply dropped a design into the format. (The circle of text in the centre says "Happy Spring!", in case you were wondering.) After that straightforward use of the format, I decided to experiment and turn the idea into a flower shape: With inner petals No inner petals These cards are big fun in that they have a TARDIS-like effect - bigger on the inside (once they have been opened). Like so: To open, pull petals in opposite directions. Remove the seal first! Tah dah! The text reads " Birthday Wishes". Since I was pursuing a Springtime/flower theme, I then followed up with a hexagonal design. The book featured a folded card with a configuration similar to the Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt pattern: I played around with it, edited it down and tried different folding methods to come up with these: The basic pattern is like this: I have always been partial to swirls! Pinch the corners to make the triangles, fold them flat to the centre, spiralling them round. So there you go - start with a template, then experiment. Here are your downloadable printables (my original designs, not using the templates from the book, but using the ideas in the book as a starting point): TwistFoldSpring.pdf TwistFoldBirthdayFlowerPetal.pdf TwistFoldBirthdayFlower.pdf FoldingFlowerGetWell.pdf FoldingFlowerThinkingofYou.pdf Have fun making your surprise-factor cards. Hello stamping friends, I have another sneak peek to share with you from the 2024-2025 Annual catalogue. As a demonstrstor we have access to preorders from new upcoming catalogues. When I first saw the Country Flowers Bundle, I knew it was one that I would love. The stamp set includes two different containers, three foliage and flower stamps, a stool and five greetings. For this card I stamped the front pail and flowers first. I created a mask for the pail and then stamped the stool and the teapot and flowers. I stamped the stool again on a piece of woodgrain card stock from the Country Woods DSP and fussy cut it out. I trimmed the stool so that it would fit behind the front pail. I coloured the image with my Blends Markers and cut out the image with a Deckled Rectangle Die. Happy Easter stamping friends, be sure to pop back soon for more peeks from the new catalogue. If you live in Australia and do not already have a demo, contact me and I can send you your own catalogue as soon as it's available. Happy stamping, Rachel

I promised a picture tutorial for making a Dahlia Fold flower and today’s the day! Making these flowers is very addictive and so much fun. SPRINGY THINGY CARD TUTORIAL It's time for me to share my weekly Tuesday tip or technique. This tutorial fell out of my tips/techniques book as I moved it last night and so got chosen for today's effort. It makes a card front that the receiver pulls open and the card opens out like a spring to see an inner 20cm square area. Images of a completed card using this technique are below these instructions. Practice this on some scrap paper first. MATERIALS 20cm square piece of card stock or decorative paper of your choice. Pre colour the card if you wish. I'll use white card stock so you can clearly see what to do. Pencil, rubber, ruler, craft knife, craft mat and bone scorer. HOW TOO 1) On all sides measure and make a light pencil dot at the 5cm, 10cm and 15cm mark. On my sample I will use a black marker so you can see what I did easily. 2) From the 5cm mark at the left and right side measure and mark a dot at the 10cm mark 3) From the 10cm mark at the left and right side measure in and mark a dot in at the 5cm mark from each side 4) From the 15cm mark at the left and right side measure and mark a dot at the 10cm mark. These dots make a large diamond. 5) Score between all these dots. In my image I have drawn dashes to show you were to score 6) At the top 15cm mark score down to the right side of the diamond. At the 15cm mark at right edge, score across to the bottom of the diamond. At the 5cm mark on the bottom edge, score up to the left side of the diamond. Lastly at the 5cm mark at the left edge, score across to the top of the diamond. See dashed marks I have marked for you on my sample. All these score lines will be mountain folds. That is you bend the scored line back on itself to make a mountain. 7) At the 10cm mark on all sides score into the points on the diamond. See dashed areas on my sample. These scored lines and the scored lines for the diamond are all valley folds. That is you bend the scored line in on itself to make a little valley. Here is my sample with all the scored lines bent to their respective mountain and valley folds. 8) Now all you do is gently fold the card in on itself. Start on one side and then work your way around. If you have all the scored correct lines and folds it sort of winds in like a spring. It should look like this at the front and this at the back. Rub off all marked pencil dots. After I made my sample above for you I painted the card stock with white gesso, sprayed it with various sprays. Stamped and added embellishments to turn it into a steam punk card. I then layered and stuck it to a base card. As mine is fairly embellished it doesn't fold completely flat. This is m Springy Thingy Card open Some close ups of the folded card part. Hugs Annette In Oz

These vibrant note cards feature the original artwork of Dafne Murillo (Lima, Peru). Dafne was a winner of the 2014 Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Student Contest. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DETAILS - One (1) card with envelope (approximately 5.5"x4" folded). - Inside is blank; artist information is on the back. - Original artwork is mixed-media: watercolor, ink, and collage. - Shipped directly from Bow Seat headquarters in Westwood, Mass. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As an organization that supports the work of the next generation of ocean caretakers, Bow Seat will not make any profit from our Etsy sales. Instead, we share 100% of the profit (after production costs) with the student artist and our ocean conservation partners. If you would like a chance to have your art sold at Bow Seat's Etsy shop, enter our annual Ocean Awareness Contest. Find out more at bowseat.org. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL ARTIST STATEMENT Due to its mild seaside climate, my country, Peru, is an ideal place for whale sightings. For many people in the coastal region, being able to see a blue or a humpback whale is not a rare occurrence, leading to a lucrative bio-marine tourism industry. Ironically, Peruvian beaches are some of the most polluted in the world. I've been involved in two annual beach-cleaning projects and have been stunned by the countless bottles and plastic bags that spread across the shoreline of Lima alone. This is a factor that inspired my piece. My art project is my version of the "iceberg" metaphor: people can only see the portion above the surface but are oblivious to the portion undersea. I feel this is the case in Peru (as in many other countries); people can appreciate the whales yet fail to realize that by continuing to litter the sea with their plastic waste, they are responsible for the extinction of this cetaceous, which may unknowingly mistake the plastic for food. Therefore in my work I portray a whale emerging from the water - while the portion above the water is a regular painting of the animal, the submerged portion is the outline of the whale made completely out of plastic waste. I used acrylic to paint the upper whale and watercolours for the sea and sky. For the submerged portion I made a collage, pasting real plastic wrappers that I had painted and cut to resemble real waste.

Tipnique Tuesday is here again and this week I have an interactive card for you that I learnt sitting on a train with other paper arts ladies many years ago. Again it was one my children loved :o). I have a house full of visitors so I do apologize as I can't get in my art room to actually decorate the sample but this is a fun card based on the Jacob's Ladder where parts bend over other parts to reveal different areas. MATERIALS Two pieces of card stock.of choice. I have used red (25cmx14cm) and white (15x14cm) for contrast so you can see easily what I am doing. Ruler, pencil, rubber, bone folder, craft knife and craft mat Stamps of choice HOW TOO 1) On white card stock have the 15cm sides at top and bottom. Measure and mark across top and bottom at 5cm intervals. Draw a soft line with a pencil. I have used a black marker so you can see what I am doing. 2) Use the ruler and craft knife and cut along the marked lines 3) On each panel trim a further few mm off one long edge 4) Place red card in landscape position. Measure and mark a dot along the top and bottom edges at 5cm intervals. Use bone folder and run it down from each dot at top and bottom. Rub out dots. 5) Concertina fold the red card and use the bone folder to press each fold. 6) Flatten the red card out again. On first line and on last measure and mark a dot at the half way mark. In this case its at 7cm and then half way between this above and below that mark (3.5cm and 10.5cm from the top line). Use the craft knife and cut three lines from the first line at left to the last line at right at the marked dots (3.5cm, 7cm and 10.5cms). 7) Start to weave the white panels you made thru the cut lines under and over as shown till all three panels are in place. Decorate the card. on all parts showing in the woven areas. Use stamps etc or images that fit in each red or white area and that don't overlap. Decorate front and back! As I said I can't get in my art room to decorate mine so use your imagination :o). Now fold the card up and something like magic happens...the bent areas start to pop open...look at the left hand side below... This effect happens at the front and the back. Different areas fold out at different times. Hidden ares get revealed and hidden again!! You don't have to use three panels you can use two like below. Have fun! If your panels are larger make the "red" card 5 times that length (for three panel cards and 4 times the length for two panel cards) hugs Annette In Oz
I recently rediscovered the charm of little paper flexagons, known in the cardmaking world as never-ending or infinity cards. I find it fascinating to unfold each page, revealing the card maker’s vision beneath, until I magically end up back where I started. Infinity cards also make an ideal mixed-media substrate. I use them to make…

Back in the day, folding paper fortune-tellers were one of the greatest possessions a child could have, providing hours of fun and enough practice to (maybe) tell someone's fortune. Folding paper and drawing on it might not be a new concept, however, artist Ben Avlis managed to breathe a new life into it by creating stunning transforming art pieces.
