Interactive Hallway Activity...What's In My Bag? Expanding language: writing, expressive and receptive skills; targeting critical attributes; fashioned after the EET tool by Sarah L. Smith Get the whole school involved in expanding language! Students define an object using the basic areas as interpreted closely to the EET program: category, function, describe using the 5 senses, composition, parts, location, additional information/personal opinion Using magazines or allowing the students to draw a desired noun, glue the picture inside a bag and continue by defining the person, place or thing using the provided writing templates. Extend activity by selecting 10 or so well written descriptions and be deliberate in choosing objects that can be compared and contrasted: label by number...have students, in groups, use clipboards and take therapy into the hallway~ voila :) auditory comprehension (use visual supports as a choice board if students need visual aid to identify described object) proceed to the nearest white board and continue with comparing and contrasting by stating similarities and differences... well rounded activity! Learning targets to include: thorough concept expansion broadening vocabulary receptive language sentence structures following directions spatial/prepositional concepts social communication, etc!!! I placed this activity outside of our library; kids interact before school as well as with the librarian permitting the classes to explore after books have been selected :) It's been a big hit!!! Kids have been asking so many questions about the concepts! Now...EVERYONE wants to come work with the SLP! LOL Included: All editable: 3 pages needed for hallway materials; No peeking, Directions and writing template Announcement description~ we used for morning announcements to explain the activity You will need to supply: bags and decorations to accompany the display~ I made a gigantic "bead tool" on a rope for the kids to manipulate have fun! Hope this brings awareness throughout your schools! Please leave feedback! I'd love to hear how it works for you and your school:) Are you happy now, Jackie!!!? :P

Become a Confident Guru of Public Speaking, Advance Your Career, and Improve Your Personal Life Using Your Body Language Do you have a colleague in the workplace who everybody listens to when he/she walks into a room? Or, perhaps, you have a friend that commands the attention and makes you feel invisible? Have you always struggled with public speaking and envied people that can capture the attention of the whole auditorium? If the answer to these questions is YES, the chance is you're projecting a wrong image of yourself by not using your body language properly. Nonverbal communication is undeniably a huge part of any communication process. It refers to body language or nonverbal signs your body sends to whomever you're speaking too. The good news is, nonverbal language is like any other language which means it can be taught. This book will transform the way you act and react with your body, improve your confidence and make you a master of public speaking. You've probably heard many times someone being described as charismatic. While some people truly are naturally charismatic, the idea that you have to be born with it couldn't be further from the truth. Charisma is a personality trait, and it can be mastered through different techniques and exercises that involve using body language, sending right signals with your movement, facial expressions and the tone of your voice. Controlling your body language is important. But how would you like to be able to recognize when someone is being deceitful or lying to you? This book will develop your skills to read another's body language, analyze the person standing in front of you and correctly guess their intentions. The book provides you with a step-by-step guide for beginners, on how to inconspicuously perform a body scan of someone you're talking to, interpret their body language and detect lies and /or hidden meanings. When you read this book you'll be able to: Use body language to improve your confidence and upgrade your personalityUnderstand the science behind nonverbal communicationControl your emotional and physical reactionsMaster your body's four main communicatorsUse different techniques to master your body's nonverbal signsUnderstand what message and signals you send with certain body movement Read another's nonverbal signs and interpret themRecognize common body language codesRecognize when someone's lying to youIncorporate body language practices in your daily routineMaster different ways to attract and command attentionUse your body language in public speaking events to capture the attention of everyone presentCommunicate your needs and desires in a clear way by using nonverbal codesDon't make a mistake believing that words you say are the only thing that matters to people around you. Humans are by nature visual beings, meaning we tend to judge on appearance, whether consciously or unconsciously. Speaking is a big part of a communication process, but not the only one. There are more ways than one to convey a message, and body language can help you strengthen and intensify the point you want to make.
