This week we studied Chapter 4 in the SOTW 3. The search for the Northwest Passage discussed Canada and the Inuit or "Eskimo" people. I found this cute Eskimo made out of coffee filters and we did the same. My kids loved this easy craft. I traced a circle using a kids bowl and we added the coffee filter behind the head for the warm and fuzzy coat. We used cotton balls, google eyes, a puff ball and some glitter glue for the mouth. To make the jacket, mittens and boots (which are hard to see) I simply folded construction paper in half and did the best I could at drawing them. The cotton balls help cover everything up so the drawings don't need to be perfect. Enjoy!

Here's a photo I recently scrapped with some of the new sweet papers in the Websters Pages 'New Beginnings' collection. I was so atracted to the soft blues and warm yellows in this one. Meagan is such a hat girl, she's always loved wearing them from babyhood to now. I embellished this page with some new and older Websters pages embellishments from the new Metal Charms to an old favourite of mine, the Bloomers. Here are some close-up pic's of the page.... I wanted to show a fun way to attach some of the new charms. I just love the new Key Charm (above)...When I was scrolling through Pinterest on my phone a little while back I saw someone had attached a key to one of their projects in a similar way. I unfortunately couldn't find the pin again when I got onto my computer so I can't give credit to the person I saw using this 'X' design, sorry about that. To attach the key I punched 4 eyelets into the background paper and then ran twine through the loop of the key to hold it into place. I did also use some heavy duty Tombo two sided adhesive on the back of the key as well to hold it in place (just as an extra measure). This close-up shows some of the layering of embellishments in a little more detail. I used some of the new Dusty Attic Corrugated Card and a little snippit of a Dusty Attic Vine Border. I also used my favourite butter yellow Bloomers from Websters pages and a portion of one of their gathered blooms called Princess Petals. The small white/blue blooms are from Dusty Attic. And finally here is a close-up of more Websters Pages embellies I used on the page. The crochetted circle is part of a set from the 'In Love' collection and the cameo is one of the Perfect Accents from the Palm Beach collection (I thought the nautical design would work well with the colors in the page). The yellow butterfly is cut from a contact sheet I made up of this butterfly in many sizes (If you missed it you can find the contact sheet that I shared with my readers a while back in the right side column of my blog under 'Yellow Butterfly Contact Sheet'
This will be my first month hosting a challenge over at the Webster's Pages Inspire Me site! I'd love to have you all come join me in the fun! I just love using fabric elements on my pages lately, whether it be trims, lace, netting, blooms made from various fabrics! And Webster's Pages has so many wonderful fabric options for your projects. My challenge this month is to use some of the GORGEOUS Webster's trims on your projects. For the above layout I used two types of Websters trims and layered them (the two trims I used are from the Holiday collection). I also used the Webster's Threads/Doilys and Shapes (white heart and blue circle shapes) as well as the new Websters Netting (fabric swatches....the white butterfly fabric on the blue circle cut paper). So my challenge for you is to use gorgeous Websters trims on your layouts or projects, the more creative the better! .....and the best part? The prize of course! The winner will receive any Webster's Pages collection of their choice! I have one added TWIST! Websters Pages papers allow for some fun fussy cutting, so you have to include a little bit of cut paper embellishing on your page along with some trim to enter your page/card in the challenge. To find the challenge thread and the complete details to play along just click this link Webster's Pages Trim Challenge. In the layout above I used the lovely new WP paper collection called Country Estate. I just love the 'shabby-chic' styling this collection inspires. The hinge and large chipboard butterfly are from Dusty Attic....I just gave each of them a coat of white paint, added a little ink and glitter. The photo is one of my oldest daughter Chloe who recently became a teenager **sigh** where does the time go! Here are are a few close-up shots of the layout.... I have one more layout to share with you that I made up with the Country Estate Collection (with a bit of the Ladies & Gents collection thrown in). Each month Websters Pages has a Guest Designer and this months Guest Designer is the Fabulous Tara Orr. The Websters Pages design team girls are asked to take one of the guest designers layouts and use it as inspiration for a layout. I chose Tara's l/o 'Watching you Grow' as inspiration for the layout below. I noticed that she often uses an off center vertical design on her layouts so I imitated this look on my page below..... The photo is one I took last summer up at the cottage of my girls on a walk with their Grandfather (Opa in German). I like the outdoorsy feel that the botanical papers from the Country Estate collection gave to this page. The butterflies I got from the Webster's pages Digital Elements...I printed out a bunch of them on some glossy white cardstock and printed them out, cut them out and attached them to the page. The large skelleton clock frame is ...you guessed it...from Dusty Attic, as is the key on the left side of the page. Here are a few close-up shots of the page elements.... ....and the blooms? Okay don't laugh but....well, the brown bloom is of course Princess Petals from Websters Pages....but the pink blooms are actually blooms I found at a local accesories store called Ardiens. They have the cutest blooms attached to hairbands, bobby pins, clips etc. and they sell them 5 for $10.00 (each package/hairband has a number of blooms attached) so I picked some up to use on my pages! :) To see more of the Websters Pages Guest Designer lifts along with layouts done for WP by Tara be sure to check out the featured Guest thread at the Inspire Me site! ....and then put on your thinking caps and come join me in this months Trims challenge! NOTE!: If you'd like another chance to win some awesome Dusty Attic chippies go check out Michelle's blog here ~~> DA Giveaway! and Natasha's blog HERE Thanks so much for stopping by and for all the sweet comments you all are kind enough to leave for me! I really love to hear from you! ~Gabrielle xx
Hi everybody, I know I've been quiet for to long here. I am working on things but everything is for next week. I do however have a card to show you that was on the Copic Marker Europe blog last Monday. I made this card using the pretty Chloe by Elisabeth Bell for Whimsy Stamp's Little Cottage Cuties. The pretty paper is from a digital set by Michele Roos also available at Whimsy Stamps and this set is called Basic Vintage Papers. The stamp-sentiments are from the Everyday mini Postage stamps set by Raindrop Echo Design (also available at Whimsy Stamps) and were cut out using the matching die. And finally the corner is the same corner I have used several times now since it's been released and that corner is from THIS set. Now that's a lot of shopping at Whimsy Stamps :). The pretty flowers are all Wild Orchid Crafts and the ribbon I bought at the Knotsgekke kaartendagen (a dutch fair) and I have no idea what brand it is or what the shop was that I bought it from. Distressing has been done with Frayed Burlap distress ink and platinum stickles around the edges. Here is a close up of the image: For the Copic marker colors used I'd like to point you to THIS post on the Copic Marker Europe blog where they are all listed. You'll also find a picture of the little pieces used to create the 3D image there. Now next week I'll have a card to show you to celebrate a new release over at Pink Cat Studio's. My friend Melissa has asked me to be a guest designer and naturally I told her yes :). But you can already get a peak of the new release AND get a chance to win the images being released if you go to the Pink Cat Studio blog NOW and play this fabulous game Melissa created. Yes that's right, SHE created this game, she is SO clever and it's such a cute game. You'll love it so if you want to give it a try, go to the Pink Cat Studio blog HERE and read all the details. Oh but wait, I also wanted to tell you I got published, my friend Julia Saddi asked me if I wanted to do a 3D tutorial for a Brazilian Magazine called Guia do Scrapbooking & Cia and how could I say anything else but yes. The magazine is both a printed magazine and an online one but to view the magazine up close you need to subscribe to the online magazine. The far away look is already amazing though, what a gorgeous magazine and I'm so proud to be in it. You can find the issue I am in HERE and my little piece is on page 86 and on. So that's it for me for today but I'll be back on April 3rd for the Pink Cat Studio release. Have fun playing the game in the meantime!! Hugs, Mariska

I decided this weekend I would dig through some of my older stash in creating this page....so some of the pieces are new, but I dug through some older papers (like Basic Grey, Capella papers and stickers), some old MME (My Minds Eye) with a dash of Maja and 7 Dots (The Background paper is from the Dreamer collection, a paper called Sleepless). I rarely use sketches when I make up a layout because I'm usually trying to feature certain products so I let the products be my inspiraton. But in this case was inspired by a sketch I saw on Pinterest by Tinci Designs....it was actually a sketch made for digital kits, but I really liked the design and thought it would work well with the Dusty Attic large Film Strip chippie I've been wanting to use. Here is a picture of Tinci's Digital kit sketches... I used the sketch in the top right corner. If you are interested in digital kits you can find her link HERE. I used the film strip as the bridge tothe two design clusters and kind of a title space as well. I painted all my chipboard pieces with white gesso (two coats) and did a little random stamping on them with word and script stamps. I also edged with some soft brown chalk in as well. I used one of my favorite little scroll chippies in the bottom right corner of the page as well. I love the light airy filligree look the fine cut chipboard gives to a page. The cute little natural/lavender floral cluster is from Tresors de Luxe. I've had this Dusty Attic Bracket Frame set for years in my stash and only this weekend got to using it! I used one of the smaller frames in the set to frame my photo. I used a really intricate and beautiful border chip from Dusty Attic called 'Sweet Pea Border' for the left side of the page design. (it is not pictured in the supplies photo below because a photo was not available online, but you can get it at the website). I added a few adhesive pearls to finish the look. I also did a bit of inking on the page with some colors that I picked out from the background paper (7 Dots Studios Dreamer/Sleepless) ....I wanted to feature the teal blues with the soft pinky/lavender. So I did a little inking with Donna Salazer Distress Inkpad (Denim), Versa Magic Chalk Ink (Spring Pansy) and did a little spritzing with Lindys Starburst Spray (Steampunk Sepia). And I added some texture with my home-made texture paste and a Crafters Workshop Stencil called 'Art Is'. Dusty Attic Supplies used in this project: ~ Bracket Frame Set ~ Sweet Pea Border ~ Small Scrolls ~ Dusty Roses - Eggplant ~ Film Strip I hope you enjoyed my Dusty Attic project today and hope that you feel inspired to create a project using beautiful Dusty Attic products! As always I just want you all to know you can find retailers for Dusty Attic in the right side column of my blog (under the Dusty Attic DT photo of me), and I can let you know as well that I was recently at Natasha's Shop 'Moments of Tranquility' and she has a nice big selection of DA products available for online shopping there. xo

An unusual and enchanting pose for the period.
