March 17, 2022That moment that your friends are moving and you need a card... Since I saw a video from Cathy Zielske and Laura Bassen I have found my perfect sets for it and it is so versatile! My favorite things (MFT) has a great die and stampset which coordinate perfectly together! Since I am chronically ill and I have issues with my energy and managing it I thought to be clever and make two cards at the same time. I made them in parts, first the backgrounds and the grass, another day I colour
We're excited to start previewing the October Card Kit called Home For the Holidays today. You can buy the kit tomorrow at 10am Eastern. Products Used:- Right At Home Die-namics Holiday Home Accents Die-namics Home For the Holidays Stamps Fine Finish Edge Die-namics I prepped an A2 panel of which cardstock using the Fine Finish Edge Die and ink blended a focal point using Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Ink. I stamped the sentiment from Home For The Holidays and attached the panel to my card base and set it to one side. I die cut my different coloured cardstock using both of the die-namics sets and methodically pieced it all together using glue. I added snow to the trees and sky and highlighted a few other points with a white gel pen and then added glitter to the snow on the roof and the base of the house. Once dry I adhered everything to the card base using some dimensional foam tape on some of the trees to build dimension. Thank you for stopping by my blog today and don't forget to visit and subscribe to the MFT You Tube Channel for endless how-to videos, inspiration and product reveals.
I'm kicking off my holiday gift guides early this year, and I thought I'd start with my favorite things. These are items I have and love and use all the time, and many I've had for years. Some are repeats from previous Favorite Things lists because I tend to be very loyal to products I love, but I've got some newer finds in here as well.
There’s no place like home, and this set of pretty sentiments celebrates all kinds of facets of the place we love most. Each phrase features a mix of a clean sans serif and swashy script providing lots of interest to each greeting. Use this assortment to celebrate the home you’re in, the people you share it with, and the friends and family that make their house feel like home to you too! The selection of houses included in the My Neighborhood Die-namics makes a perfect companion to this essential set. Sentiments measure from 1/4" to 7/8” in height and range from 1 3/4" (welcome) to 3 5/8" (In My Imaginary Neighborhood…) in width. Our clear stamps are made in the USA and include the name of the set on the sticker for easy identification. May 2021 Release - 4" x 6" clear stamp set – (9) piece set Sentiments: Wishing You Every Happiness, Congratulations on Your New Home, Thank You for Your Hospitality, I Wish You Lived Next Door, You Make Me Feel Right at Home, When I’m with You, I’m Home, I’m Looking Forward to Forever with You, Welcome, In My Imaginary Neighborhood, You Live Right Next Door
The brand new June release from My Favorite Things is now live so go and get shopping!!! Oh wait! Take a look at my card first. This is Let Your Hair Down and it comes with Coordinating Die-namics. To create this card which is super dimensional I first grabbed a panel of white cardstock and I used the Grassy Edges Stencil and then the Mini Cloud Edges Stencil together with Distress Inks in Stormy Sky, Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn. I grabbed the A2 Stitched Rectangles STAX Die-namics and die cut the stencilled panel. The outer cut to make it slightly smaller than A2 and the next cut to create a focal panel. The outer cut was directly glued to my white card base and the focal panel was backed with white craft foam and carefully adhered making sure before pressing down and adhering that everything was aligned. I also used a die-cut from the A2 Rectangle Frames Die-namics and backed it with foam tape and applied that to the raised focal point. I stamped my images from Let Your Hair Down on to Copic friendly cardstock and I used Copic markers to colour my images and I highlighted a few points using a white gel pen. I used the die-namics to die cut the images which I backed with foam tape arranged and then adhered to the scene. All that was left to do now was to stamp one of the 3 sentiments from the stamp set and I used a sentiment strip from Essential Stitched Sentiment Die-namics. This strip was adhered with more foam tape so that it floated across the white frame .... and beyond! Many thanks for stopping by my blog today and I hope to see you back here soon! Happy crafting!
I’ve been a Mary Engelbreit fan since the 1980s when I first found her greeting cards in a local shop. The artwork was incredibly appealing to me and the sentiments were both amusing and charming. Some cards included quotes by famous folk that were thought-provoking and/or inspirational to say the least. I gave ME cards and kept some for me. Soon, there were calendars and mugs and all sorts of merchandise… so when I found out that ME had also designed fabric lines… I just knew I had to make a ME quilt for my Emma. While granddaughter Emma loves stuffed animals and playing with dolls and dressing up, she also enjoys Star Wars, building blocks, dinosaurs and climbing and digging in the sand. When she was younger, she loved playing “No, no, no, no, no!” with me. It started when I stacked blocks in towers for her when we were playing on the floor and laughingly told her “nonononono” when she knocked them over. Emma thought knocking over the block towers was the greatest thing since sliced bread and soon the game expanded to other activities such chasing Grandma around the house while Grandma “ran away” saying “nononono.” I wish I had a recording of Emma’s laughter… how could anyone be down listening to that precious gurgling chuckle? I found a tutorial for making a crazy nine-patch block on Allsorts… I believe it is referred to as a wonky nine-patch as well. I knew it would be perfect for Emma’s quilt. Using a ME layer cake from her “Basket of Flowers” line, I proceeded to learn that following detailed instructions isn’t as easy as one would think. I only messed up one step a bit and to be honest, it’s not all that noticeable in the finished quilt. I see it but no one else has noticed….. yet. Oh, well… I always knew I wasn’t perfect… now there’s a permanent record of it! One thing special about the quilt is that the little girl on the panel on the quilt back reminds me of my darling Emma. Because the colors of Emma’s quilt were so much lighter than the boys’ quilts, the quilt became translucent in the late November sun. I like thinking of my Emma, snuggled under both the flannel rag quilt I made her and her new “Basket of Flowers” quilt… and knowing that she’s safe and warm! ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ Because I am a world-class procrastinator, I will be joining the online FRIDAY NIGHT SEW IN at Handmade by Heidi with Heidi, Bobbi, and their crew! Hi friends! I intended to post yesterday but I got into a MAJOR decluttering spree. I've been on a roll ever since decluttering all. the. things. After moving
I have seriously looked forward to this “Favorite Things” party for months…I bought my gifts this summer… What’s a “Favorite Things” party, you ask? I am here to tell you! Finally a blog post not about baby sleep, right? I am in a “Bunco” group with 11 other girls and, while we love getting together each month, the dice game wasn’t really needed. Since then, we’ve done anything from a night out for Mexican food to Halloween mystery parties to spa days. Since I was in charge of December I got to host this one. We’d heard about this idea from a member of our group who had played before and just loved it. So we decided to have our Christmas bunco as a gift exchange in the style of “favorite things.” We set a gift limit at $8 per item and each person set out to find something that they loved and bought 11 of them (or 12 if they wanted to keep one for themselves too). The beauty of this gift exchange is you could plan it with any number of people and any budget. Just pick the group number and price early so people can start shopping! With our $8 gift limit it meant everyone was spending about $88– which seemed like a good mid-range amount considering the 11 gifts we’d all end up with. Everyone came over for a happy hour before to mingle and eat appetizers. I tried my hand at a charcuterie board, thank you Pinterest! As people arrived with arms overflowing, my sunroom slowly filled to the brim with presents! Everyone sat around the room while each friend passed out her items and told us a little about what they brought or why it was one of their favorite things. I loved this part! And let me tell you we tore into those packages like kids on Christmas morning. We left our “favorite things” super broad but you could also host a party of specifics. Favorite kitchen gadgets, favorite books, favorite cosmetics, favorite snacks….the possibilities are endless! Several people did 2 or 3 small gifts to make up the $8. I think it was a really good price point to land on but if you had a smaller group to buy for, a higher limit would work well too. I also wouldn’t mind the challenge of a $5 cap because I like a good bargain hunt 🙂 These are a few of our favorite things: Billie razor Rachael Ray Lazy Spoon letter board / Mrs. Meyers soap Tea towel Poo-Pourri / beef jerky Non slip shoe inserts / Rodan & Fields chapstick / Lindt chocolates Orly nail polish / buffer Festive coffee mugs / goat milk hand cream Boca Clips Thayers rose water spray flavored popcorn / Sweet Grace laundry detergent Hand painted Christmas signs (that benefited a family raising money for adoption!) It was a hit and I know many of us have already been thinking of ideas for next years’ favorite things party. I definitely recommend this party to any friend group with any budget…you will love it! As a hostess this was such an easy party to give. The last two Christmas buncos I did a cookie decorating party. Not that those weren’t fun 🙂 But this was really relaxing and easy and I think everyone enjoyed the change of pace of just getting to be with friends and share a favorite thing. I hope everyone is having a great Christmas season! May our “favorite things” give you some gift inspiration! You may also like:

Hi peeps! Hope you had a good weekend….I had many plans of leisurely stamping the weekend away, but somehow my other chores got in my way! Taxes, laundry, paying bills…..you know how it is! I did have some nice news, that one of my Easter cards from last year made it into the “Hobby Craft Easter Cards for Expert Crafters” issue! How exciting! You can see it HERE. It’s the one shaped like an Easter egg! Anyway, I played with sketch challenge this week from Sunday Stamps: and made this really simple card using the SAB sets You Brighten My Day and Simply Wonderful: We have a friend who just bought a house, so once I get her new address, this will be going to her! It was fun to let the Lullaby DSP do most of the work! I simply stamped the house in Soft Suede and colored it lightly with my reinkers and an aquapainter. I took the liberty of adding the banner so I would have a place for my sentiment! The card base is the In Color of Hello Honey, which I haven’t used much this year, so it was fun to play with that a bit! Thanks for stopping in today! DJ Cassidy:
