You can enter your cards for this week's challenge in the Inlinkz Link Up at the bottom of this post. We're welcoming Kaja back to the Challenge blog today with her take on this week's sketch. A dinosaur wearing a cowboy hat might be the cutest thing we've ever seen! :) Kaja used the circle element on the sketch to add her fun dinosaur image, complete with a sentiment speech bubble and perfected the scene with a gorgeous sunrise as her backdrop. Amy created an adorable scene with colorful polka dot patterned paper for the vertical strip on her card and a stitched circle frame around her cute bunny blowing bubbles. The soft colors give her card a beautiful Spring vibe even though it's not specifically spring related. Vika used the Owl My Love stamp set on her card and used the sketch design to create a tree limb for her critters to hang out on. The scallop fringe along the patterned paper strip adds a fun, playful look and complements the owls beautifully. Congratulations, Susan W, ! Each week we see fantastic projects featuring My Favorite Things product, and we're always so thrilled to see what our customers and followers are creating! Today, we'd like to shine the spotlight on some awesome projects that have caught our attention in another edition of You've Been Spotted. If you see your project featured, feel free to post this image on your blog and link to this post to show the world that you were spotted by My Favorite Things! Tracy Hawkins There are so many adorable elements on this card that make it perfect for a little one's first birthday. We love the soft watercolor background that Tracy created for her sweet hippo scene and the personalization that she added is the icing on the cake! Lavery Grey We're always a fan of cute tags, especially those that feature magical unicorns and castles. A soft color palette, scalloped edges and an embossed sentiment complete this delightful design. Jenny Martin We couldn't resist this charming trio of rainbow-colored sheep. Bright happy colors and an assortment of fun patterns make this card ideal for any birthday celebration! Kathy Straw Being sick is never fun, but we think this sweet get well card would put a smile on anyone's face. We adore all of the little touches, from the subtle design on the comforter to the textured wallpaper in the background. Kirsten Brindley Kirsten provided an excellent backdrop for her adorable polar bear on skates. The chevron pattern adds nice detail while still allowing the focus to remain on the cute scene. A scattering of sequins adds dimension and really dresses up this winter landscape. Which design is your favorite this week? Be sure to leave these talented folks some love. And who knows? You might be spotted sometime soon!

Welcome! I'm still in South Carolina--no light tent setup here--but I had one last card almost finished that I had packed to finish and share. Hello friends! I'd love to share with you another card that I made for the MFT Color Challenge #73. For this card, I decided to make a box card featuring the MFT Stamps BB Mermazing, Seaside Seagulls and Ocean Pals Stamp Sets. MFT Color Challenge #73 I followed this inspiration photo (above) to choose my color scheme. To start my card, I first created the box portion. I usually follow THIS tutorial by Splitcoaststampers on how to create your own box card by hand. I love having an open window covered with acetate in the front of my box cards. It just gives so much more depth to your card. If you're interested in seeing a few other box cards with a similar design, here are a few more examples that I've made in the past year or so. Beach Box Card Fishing Box Card For the front of my box card (below), I used the MFT Die-namics Square Peek-a-Boo Window Die to die cut the window. I love how the added stitches around the sides create the perfect frame for my underwater scene! I stamped my images onto white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored them with Copic Sketch Markers. The colors that I used are as follows: (Mermaid's Tail: YG01, YG06, YG17, G16; Mermaid's Hair: Y21, R35, R29, V15, R59; Mermaid's Top: V20, V04, V17, BV08; Mermaid's Skin: E0000, E01, E02, E13, E15; Clown Fish: Y15, YR04, YR07; Island: E31, E33, E35, E57; Crab:R17, R35, R59; Pelican's Bodies and clouds: 0, C00, C0, C1, C3). I diecut all of the images with their coordinating dies and added some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter on the Mermaid's tail and bikini top for some added shimmer. To go with my mermaid/beach theme, I added some dark grey scale-like patterned paper on the lower sides of the box and also stamped and added my sentiment "Sending You Oceans of Love" onto one of the box flaps. In the background, you can see a small island with a crab and a fun palm tree. I diecut the tree using the MFT Die-namics Beach Scene Builder and added some inks to the dicuts to give the pieces some shading. I actually made this card for my Aunt's birthday. She is an avid beach lover but sadly doesn't get to go except maybe once or twice a year. My entire family goes on a beach vacation every summer (there are usually about 60 of us) and my Aunt is notorious for counting down the days for all of us on Facebook until the next vacation. :0) Thank you all for dropping by! If you liked this card and want some more crafty inspiration, don't forget to check out my INSTAGRAM feed! Wishing you all a lovely day! ♥ Rachel I will also be entering this card into the following challenges: Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge #252: Make Your Mark
Hello again from Challenge-land! I don't know about you, but the weather is changing in my neck of the woods, and I'm feeling creative and inspired. We hope that you are, too, and that you make this blog one of your favorite stops each week! Below you'll find Sketch 246. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20. Let's welcome Lindsay Amrhein once again as our September Guest Designer! It's always so fun to get to know our guests, don't you agree? Lindsay has been making cards for some time, and in 2010 she had her first card published with many to follow! She was invited to contribute to a party ensembles book put together by Paper Crafts magazine, and she considers that the proudest crafty moment of her life. It's fun when your hobby turns into something even more special. Let's see how Lindsay interpreted this week's sketch: For this week's sketch, Lindsay elongates the square card into a vertical card, and the circle becomes the perfect place to feature the Fall Florals stamps and Die-namics. Your first instinct when looking at this sketch might be to go graphic with triangles and hard edges, but Lindsay shows the versatility of the sketch expertly! The Challenge Team is at it again with inspiring creations. Let's see how they interpreted Sketch 246! Alice creates a jubilant autumnal scene featuring one of the adorable mice from the Harvest Mouse stamp set. Set in the Cross-Stitch Circle STAX Die-namics, the card evokes a sweet and homey feel much like a favorite blanket. Erin Lee features the Abstract background stamp in the circle as she follows along with the sketch. The pretty flowers are from the Delicate Pretty Poppies stamp set, and the curve of the sentiment from the Wavy Greetings stamp set is right on the money! Jill focuses solely on the round portion of this jaunty sketch and mimics it by using a white on white version of the Abstract Cover-Up Die-namics for the background of her round shaker card. By adding in a sentiment from the Brushstroke Birthday Greetings Die-namics and a bold numeral from the Big Numbers Die-namics, Jill creates an all die cut masterpiece that her 5-year-old son is sure to love! It's back to school time for the kids, and Miriam's design based on the sketch would be great for an end of the marking period surprise! The Class Act stamp set has lots of fun school-related stamps and sentiments for the entire school year. The Birthday Centerpieces Die-namics fits perfectly with this sketch, and Vera's beautiful, shimmery shaker created with it is a fun spot to feature this adorable bird from the Polynesian Paradise stamp set and Die-namics! Veronica stays quite true to the sketch with this absolutely LOVELY square card. She creates the backdrop for the pretty orange poppies using the Abstract stencil. I just adore her color choices — so delightful as our minds begin to click into fall mode in the Northern Hemisphere. Congratulations, Wanda Cullen! Today's project uses a new image from Pure Innocence, coordinating Die-namics, and a cool set of Die-namics with tons of possibilities! How cute is she?!? Pure Innocence Perfect Harmony is adorable. That's all there is to it. After I die cut Sweet Tooth cardstock with Die-namics Perfect Harmony and colored her with colored pencils, she needed a stage. You can't be a singing diva without a stage. :) Good thing MFT Stamps is releasing a set of dies called, Die-namics Take the Stage. Die-namics Take the Stage is truly meant to be a backdrop to create a stage with curtains, but I couldn't help myself and I had to make it 3D! I cut Kraft cardstock with Die-namics Take the Stage. I scored 3/4" in on each side. Then I snipped in with my scissors on each of the four corners, as you can see in the photo above. I applied adhesive to each of my new tabs and tucked them inside to create the 3D stage. Easy. Crazy easy. Then I started creating the curtains in the background, the true intentions for this set of dies. I cut the large panel from Electric Red cardstock. I also cut three of the scallops. Look at how perfectly they layer together! I also cut the two long sides. Tie backs for each long side were cut from Lemon Drop cardstock. Tie backs! How clever is that?!! Using strong adhesive, I adhered the curtains to the stage base. I also added more scallops to the front and sides of the stage. To put our darling girl on stage, I cut a slit in the stage with a craft knife. She tucked in easily. And finally, a small sign, using a stamped sentiment from PI Perfect Harmony. Ridiculous, yes. Adorable, yes. If you have a little girl in your life who loves to sing, this is fantastic! Be sure and visit the MFT Blog to get linked up to the rest of the design team. Today's projects are fabulous! thanks for stopping by! ~kimberly Supplies available May 5: InLinkz.com
Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday! It's time! It's time! The FABULOUS April MFT Release is available NOW in the MFT Boutique! Hooray!! Today I have a project to share with you using the ADORABLE new Piggy Pebbles, Piggy Pebbles Die-namics, Fishtail Flag Trio Die-namics, Paper Bag Treat Box and All Lined Up Background! SWOON! I honestly don't know which of these new products I love more! The new Paper Bag Treat Box is BEYOND fabulous! It is the perfect size to house a gift card, or perhaps a pair of earrings, or lip gloss! I LOVE this and know I will use this A LOT! I cut the bag from Kraft Card Stock and stamped the front panel using the new All Lined Up Background with Kraft Premium Dye Ink. The pig (OMG, how cute!) was cut from No-Line Coloring Card Stock using the Piggy Pebbles Die-namics, and stamped her using Extreme Black Hybrid Ink with Piggy Pebbles. I colored her with Copic Markers and then popped her up with Foam Tape onto a panel of Smooth White Card Stock cut using the Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics. I used the AWESOME new Fishtail Flag Trio Die-namics to cut the sentiment panel from Smooth White Card Stock, and stamped "Squeal! It's Your Special Day" from Piggy Pebbles using Extreme Black Hybrid Ink. I added a little bow of Hemp Cord to the handle of the bag to finish it off! Thanks SO much for stopping by! Please head over to the MFT Blog to check out what the rest of the team has created, and for a chance to win an MFT Gift Cerificate!
For Day 4 of the April Release Countdown, I've played with the Shutter Card Components Die-namics to make a cute interactive camera card.
The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we were challenged to create with our Circle STAX. Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers who have a project to share with you today. Hi, everyone! As you see, today we’re focused on what we can do with our Die-namics Circle STAX. Obviously, one can cut circles for stamping images and layering, but I wanted to explore some other uses. My first project is a card and I used my Die-namics Circle STAX to create a shaker element. I didn’t want to re-invent the wheel, but you can do a search and get the basics of the technique. First I cut out a Die-namics Open Scallop Doily Duo and added a Die-namics Circle STAX layer cut from patterned paper. Then I cut a frame from two circle sizes as well as the window, made of clear card stock. To make my tiny “confetti”, I cut a Die-namics Dainty Lace Border from lots of colors and used the little pieces of waste—I’ll keep the borders in my scrap drawer—some of them are bound to come in handy at some point. I’m using sweet little PI – You Color My World for my image, colored with Copic markers, and Whip Cream card stock and Hot Fudge card stock from the MFT Boutique. Here’s a side view to show the dimension of a shaker element and all the circle layers. And here’s another sentiment from the set. ***** For my second project, I made a door knob hanger for my craft room. I’d been wanting to do one of these for some time so I decided this was the time to get it done! You can get bases for these already cut out but I wasn’t going to be near a craft store in time to make this so I made my own. With some heavy chipboard, I cut the top with a Die-namics Circle STAX by cutting my chipboard just a little narrower than the diameter of the die and slipping it through the circle center so only the top was in touch with the cutting surface. Then, with a smaller size circle, I cut out the hole to slip over the door knob. I repeated the process with Kraft corrugated paper, adhered the two pieces together, and there was my hanger base! Then it was time to dress it up. I swiped some white craft paint on the corrugated paper then sanded the edges and sponged with distress ink. I used my Die-namics Circle STAX dies again to cut the pink striped paper covering my Die-namics Dizzy Doily die cut. Here’s a shot of the top part. In addition to the circles and Dizzy Doily, cut from Kraft card stock, I’m using Die-namics By the Letters, Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX, Die-namics Leaf-Filled Flourish, Die-namics Mini Hybrid Heirloom Rose, Die-namics First Place Award Ribbon, and Die-namics Royal Leaves. And here’s the bottom part, with the addition of Die-namics Mini Tab Foursome and Die-namics Hexagons to the mix. The words “inspire” and “create” were stamped using Typewriter Alphabet. And, finally, here it is hanging on my craft room door :) That’s it from me today! Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope I’ve inspired you to get your own Die-namics Circle STAX and make some circles of your own! All the new Stamps, Die-namics, and Stencils will be available on Tuesday, August 4 at 10:00pm EST. Be sure to check out the MFT Blog to see all the new items being revealed today. Don't forget to leave a comment on the MFT Blog countdown posts, YOU could win one of the five $75.00 gift vouchers. I have two tropical themed cards to share with you today. The first one features a few stamps from the new Birdie Brown set, Polynesian Paradise. This set is full of cute images and fabulous sentiments. I stamped the adorable toucan and the flowers on a piece of X-Press It card stock and I coloured them with Copics. I placed them all on a Pierced Circle Frame. The background was stamped with the Burlap Background and Kraft Premium Dye Ink. A simple Mahalo finished off the card. My second card features the amazing Tiki Hut Die-namics. How cool is this die? Seriously fun! I die-cut the house in Burlap, Jellybean Green, and Kraft card stock. I added a few flowers from the Polynesian Paradise stamp set. The sentiment was stamped right onto a piece of sand paper. Thanks so much for joining me again today. Don't forget to check out the MFT Blog to see all the gorgeous creations the design team has to share with you today. Hello, it’s time! MFT’s January Card Kit, Message in a Bottle, is now available for purchase in the MFT Online Boutique! Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the details. I have one more card for you using this adorable kit and I had a ton of fun making it. My other two cards had the bottle bobbing along on the waves but I wanted this one to be washed up on the beach. So to begin, I created a watercolor background using Ken Oliver Color Bursts: Flower Fresh, Brights, and Rich Moroccan Shades and added a little foam at the shoreline with white craft paint. Once that dried I cut it with Message in a Bottle Die-namics and added the shaker pouch. Before I adhered it in, though, I cut a slit at the top to allow me to actually insert the cork sheet die cut INTO the bottle. Yay! Love how that turned out! I had to add a little foam shim under the cork but that keeps it level as well as adhered. Win-win! Then I added the sentiments from Little Love Notes Stamp Set, cut with Little Notes Die-namics and sponged with Old Paper Distress Ink along with some seed beads to simulate sand. I closed it up and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base and finished the scene with elements from Beach Scene Builder Die-namics. I love this card! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon! Now go shop! All products from My Favorite Things unless otherwise noted. Stamps: Little Love Notes Die-namics: Message in a Bottle, Little Notes Sentiment Strips, Beach Scene Builder Hybrid Ink: Extreme Black MFT Card Stock/Specialty Papers: Sweet Tooth, Pineapple, Gumdrop Green, Sour Apple, Kraft, Primitive Cream, Milk Chocolate Supplies/Tools: foam mounting tape, Smart Grid Paper Pad, Mini MISTI, Mini MISTI Grid Paper Pad, MISTI Bar Magnets, Square Bone Folder, Scor-Buddy, craft tweezers, Ken Oliver Color Bursts: Flower Fresh, Brights, and Rich Moroccan Shades, Message in a Bottle Shaker Pouches Other: Die-cutting machine, paper cutter, Copic markers, Ranger Watercolor paper, tape runner, Multi Medium Matte Glue, Precision Tip Glue Applicator Bottle, QuickStik Pick-up Tool, Mini Mister, water brush, plastic eraser, Old Paper Distress Ink, cork sheet, seed beads, white craft paint
It's Day 4 of the MFT April Release Countdown and today's project has me smiling big time! Today I am showcasing the new dies called Shutter Card Components. These new dies create a fun interactive slider for the inside of your card. Here are a few pics but to see this card in action, stop over to my Instagram @laurie_willison to see this card move! To create this card, I used a light gray Copic marker with a ruler and added stripes to a card base, inside and out. I scored the card into a tri-fold card with the help of my Scor-Pal. (The Scor-Pal has markings included to create the perfect tri-fold card. Next, I used the Stitched Rainbow Die to create a belly band to fit around the card and I added 2 strips of paper on the front card flaps just for a little detail. I added the Shutter Card Components on the inside of the card. It was so easy to add the sentiment inside along with a little heart! These dies are amazing and are so easy to create this shutter card! I can't wait to see what the other girls have created using this die! Head on over to the MFT Blog to check it out! And remember everything you see this week will be available on release day, Tuesday, April 9th at 9am CST! -Close Up Flowers- "Hi everyone, and welcome to this month's My Favorite Thing's Creative Challenge! Our Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature where we challenge our Design team to explore their creative side using a specific theme, product or technique. This month it's all about Jazz Up Your Blooms With Patterns be sure to check the MFT Blog for a list of all the designers who have creative solutions for you today!" Fijne dag, Inge
