Yesterday I showed some of my favorite funky chic kitchens. Today I'm going to go further and show salvaged funky cabinets and other storage solutions in kitchens. via I loved some of the comments from yesterday's post. Most of you were inspired. A few couldn't imagine working in a kitchen such as these. One commenter loved the pretty things displayed above the stove but said that it was impractical because of the kitchen grease that would accumulate. I hadn't even thought about that. I have a shelf of pretties above my own stove. I don't have any problem with them getting grease on them...since I never cook with grease or oil. I might sauté with a little olive oil or butter or balsamic vinegar but that is rare and it does not cause a greasy film on anything in the kitchen. So, personally I think it's ok to have pretties in the kitchen. I adore those cabinets above. Just adore it. Notice the small electric stove top? This would by a tiny kitchen in a tiny cottage. via The black wire spice rack is the star in this kitchen. I was inspired by a rack like this when I came up with my own spice rack. I actually wanted a little wire spice rack but came up with this instead. It's the perfect size for the space I had available. It's very handy to have a spice rack right by the stove. I know many said it was a mistake when I installed it there. They said spices should be kept in cool dark place but I use them up pretty quickly because they are always in sight. So it has not been a problem. via Just look at this row of cabinets and hutches! This makes for delightful kitchen cabinets. via Here industrial shelving does the trick. I'm really a fan of these shelves anyway. I used to have some of these in my old office with seagrass baskets on them. They looked pretty awesome. Anyway...even though all this stuff is exposed in this kitchen...it still looks very nice. Interesting. via This kitchen really has shelves. Those there at the right remind me of the old metal bins you used to see at hardware stores. This kitchen is too rustic for my own use but I do think it looks divine. via These shelves look like they'd be super easy to build. Love the industrial cottage vibe. via A pretty dresser in the kitchen is a welcome surprise at Maple and Magnolia. via A big sideboard makes for an excellent kitchen cabinet. via This is kitchen of one of the girls of Vintage White Market. She added the vintage turquoise cabinet to her kitchen. Her whole kitchen is an amazing hodgepodge of salvaged items. It includes a vintage stove and fridge which I love...want...need! via This kitchen is created from antique Indian cabinets placed side by side with a counter top built over to unify them. very nifty via Look how great a wood pallet looks on the wall for a dish cabinet! Again...too rustic for my actual use but I really like the way it looks. Just shows kitchens can really be anything these days. I love how bohemian and artistic these kitchens are! Tweet

As many of you might know that follow me on Instagram, we recently moved into our little country cottage that we'd bought almost a year ago. The timing of which was quite serendipitous, as little did we know that a global pandemic was on our doorstep and we'd be essentially going into lockdown for, possibly months.

Bridgehampton, New York I wish I had a photo of the outside of this home...but alas...I do not. But it's gorgeous on the inside. It was designed by S. R. Grambel What's not to love in that photo? Love the board and batten painted different colors. Didn't think I'd like that...but I do because it's subtle. Love that hall table with the marble top. Very industrial table and I'm not sure what that chandelier is but I like it. Love the wall of glass front cabinets. Yes, there is a lot of grey in this home and it's lovely. I don't know if that is a window or a mirror at the end of the hall. What do you think? It sure looks good. Love this room. Light and bright and perfect for by the sea. Amazing wingback chair. I really adore this room. All those windows are great and the colors but you know what I realized made me really love this room?....that little bit of purple on the table. That tiny shot of purple brings life to this room. Shows how important a little bit of flowers can be. Here we are in the kitchen. Wow! That big display case is amazing in this space. A perfect place to put all your dishes and serving ware. What do you think about those lights? Amazing, aren't they? What a great big kitchen! I like the hardware on the cabinets. There are really some great ideas in this home. That wall of what I guess is old steel industrial windows...really adds character. Looks like the opposite one is filled with old cloudy mirror. What a great collection of miniature ships on the wall. Ok, I really love this. I know I say I love a lot but a mirror in front of a window is something you'd think you should not do but it works here so well. Serene bedroom with a view. Not sure which room this is....this is all they showed of it. I sure would like to see the rest. And a dramatic powder room. Isn't that mirror perfect in this spot? I can just imagine a sea captain living here. It's nautical without any clichéd choices. Tweet

For Fall when I showed you my kitchen, I had a picture of my Hoosier cabinet and realized I never done a post on it. It is so precious to me because my Mom and Grandfather got it for me as a Christmas present some 18 years ago. I found it at a antique store in an old log cabin house in Oakland IL (home of Tete). When we would go there, I dreamed of having it as mine one day. Well, as you know it did. My Mom and Grandfather had it delivered all the way to St. Louis for me. I was cleaning it up for Christmas I like it because it had all the bells and whistles. A bread box drawer, rolling pin holder, flour bin......and might I say it was pretty authentic, it had flour still in the bin! I love decorating it and it has always been a centerpiece of my kitchen. When I purchased my house, I had to make sure I bought a home with a wall big enough for it. I found some eyelet shelf paper in my hometown when the dime store was still open. The upper cabinet houses my collection of Cameo Depression glass. all the pulls, latches etc. are original Canisters for your salt, pepper, baking powder The inside holds vintage cookbooks and my Mother's and Grandmother's recipe boxes. I found some recipes I copied for my cousins that were their Grandmother's.ssshhhhh don't tell them they won't know they are in Germany! 3 small drawers, this one holds my baking items from my childhood. My little rolling pin, baking pans and cookie cutters. A great place to store my dish towels The side drawers, one holds my Mom and Grandmother's cookie cutters. The others are a silverware drawer and a drawer with all those recipes we saying were going to make when we cut them out of the paper but don't! a pull out cutting board At Christmas, I always tie on my apron on the left and my Mom's on the right. I remember cooking and laughing in the kitchen I grew up in with these on. I think I always wanted one because I remember that at 1515, my paternal Grandmother had 2. One in the kitchen and one on the back porch. My one cousin still has one of them I better go finish my decorating! Joining Colorado Lady for
