Hello blog friends, The 1st of March is the first day of autumn for us in South Africa and I can surely feel the change in weather since Wednesday. I just love the cool early mornings and evenings …
It's that time again! I know I mentioned that the new Maja Moodboard is posted the first Tuesday of every month but I have to correct that, since the beginning of the new year it is now the firs SATURDAY of the month. That being said here is the gorgeous Moodboard for February!... I love that the moodboard for February is not your typical pink/red/white color combination (although I do love to scrap pink)...this mood board has such lovely shades of violet/purple/plums with some beautiful neutrals. The moodboard is based on colors in the 'Ska vi ta en Fika?' collection. I used mostly papers from the above collectin but added a little bit in from the Vintage Spring Basics collection as well (striped background for the card) and a little bit of Vintage Autumn Basics (clocks). The roses I used on this card are from an old package of Prima flowers I had in my stash, mixed with small white roses from Dusty Attic Designs. The vine flourish design was cut from Maja papers using the Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish die cut. I created a shabby-chic frame design for my card title with a Dusty Attic Design frame and some white pearl 3D paint (I used Scribbles brand found in the T-shirt section of Michaels Craft Shop). Here is an even closer view of the frame. I usually like to machine stitch on my cards but I ran out of the heavy duty upholstery thread I ususally use for stitching on my cards and layouts, so I had to cheat and draw on the stitch design with a brown pen. Maja Design papers used on this project: ~ Ska vi ta en Fika (Favoriter, Blommor på bordet, Våffla m björnbärssylt-bs, Söders höjder - bs) ~ Vintage Spring Basics (8th of April-bs) ~ Vintage Autumn Basics (XVI) - clocks ~ Life in the Country (Sowing Seeds-bs) I hope you get a chance to play along with this months moodboard challenge at Maja Design, there is a beautiful Maja Design collection (of your choice) up for grabs as the prize each month! You can find the challenge information HERE. You can also see more inspiration from our talented design team there, to get your creativity going! Thanks so much for stopping by today and for all the lovely comments, you guys are the best! xo xo
Hi everyone! Just stopping in to share a card I made for 2 awesome challenge blogs. The Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge Blog and the Let's Get Shabby Challenge Blog. Both of their challenges this week is to make a card using only one color. So FUN and challenging! I used some gorgeous papers by Prima from their Printery line. I also used some Prima lace trim, punched butterflies, Liquid Pearls, lace, seam binding, a chipboard heart, paint, a button, glitter and the "beautiful" is from the Princess Blush stamp set by My Mind's Eye. I hope you all have a "beautiful" day! Thanks for stopping by my little blog! I really appreciate it! Hugs and lottsa love...
Stamperia makes some of the most gorgeous papers! I do not get to use them very often, and was excited to get the chance to create another Shabby Chic class using some of this beautiful Fantasy paper. I know many of Scrapbook Essentials BC customers will love it too. So here are the two cards we will be making in class. STAMPERIA FANTASY UNICORN & ROSES SHABBY CHIC CARD CLASS WHEN: Wednesday, November 28th TIME: 6:00pm - 8:00pm (willing to have an afternoon class that day from 2:00pm to 4:00pm if needed) COST: $27 + GST RSVP: Stacey at 778-533-4290 OR [email protected] This gorgeous paper lends itself to Winter with the snowflakes and can work as wonderful Winter birthday cards, or what ever you wish. In this class we will not use a paper distresser but learn to give a cleaner Shabby Chic look by using our fingers. We will also learn to use brush blender (Tim Holtz or NUVO) to add colour to lace, etc. For these cards there is very little fussy cutting, so we will do that in class this time. So no homework! We will also be discussing liquid glue and how to avoid that dried glue shine where the glue comes out from behind or from our fingers when accidentally touch somewhere we shouldn't have. Find out in class. PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: fussy cutting scissors, regular scissors, nonstick craft mat, double sided adhesive tape, liquid glue, tweezers or paper piercer, blending brushes (not foam blenders) either from Tim Holtz or NUVO, wipes for your fingers, a piece of paper towel, white foam pop ups or tape, and the following ink pads - Distress Tattered Rose, & Iced Spruce. Shabby Chic cards seem to speak to our femininity. Not all women are drawn to to this genre, but it sure is popular at Scrapbook Esstentials BC for the past year. Let's have a closer look at the cards we will be making in this class. If you are taking the class you may print these photos to bring to class if you feel it will help. Which girl, or woman, does not like the fantasy of unicorns? A closer look at the top part... ...the bottom part... ...and the side view. And what woman does not have a soft spot for roses? The top part of this card... ...and the bottom part of this card... ...and the side view of this card. Did you notice the coloured lace? I have a tip to share with you in class. Happy creating!

These beautiful handcrafted designs could make a lovely gift card. I make them in a choice of colours. Emerald green and pink and green. shabby chic inspired me with these and are available in different colour combinations on request. The artwork is displayed on a board for lasting display. The 3 drawers hold the personalised tags which can either be left blank for you to fill in or personalised by me with a simple short message on each tag even keep sake photos as a separate insert for the drawers. The tags are moveable and can be placed in any order/ drawer you wish. These gift picture cards would make a lovely Mother’s Day gift or Birthday gift. This card comes with a clear stand.
Hello Crafty-Friends! Diana is here to show you my inspiration for our pink & one other color theme this week. I crafted a tag card for you. Hello die cutting fans, thank you for joining me on Spellbinders blog! Today I am going to showcase 2 projects featuring Swirl Background and Curvy Labels die sets from Romancing the Swirl collection designed by Becca Feeken. Both cards are the same design but are a bit different in structure. The project #1 is a multi-layered framed card decorated with a large flower made with Blooming Rose die set. For the background I used a sheet of paper with small floral pattern in subdued pink shades. The project #2 is a trifold card that has a little pocket inside so it can be used as a money holder or a gift card holder. You can also slip a note with a message into that pocket. This card is also much quicker and easier to create than the previous one. I have used vellum to create a background for labels on both cards. Semi-transparency is such a unique property of this material – although a label covers up almost half of a card you can still see how that gorgeous swirl background pattern spreads throughout the card front. I have also used some die cut sentiments from both Phrase Set One and Phrase Set Two sets to add on top of labels. The first one is die cut from the same patterned paper that I used for the background and the second one is plain cream cardstock. VIDEO TUTORIAL Want to know exactly how both cards were created? You can find a full the step by step guide in a video tutorial. Hi everyone!! Hope all are doing well. Have you taken part in our challenge yet? It's a recipe challenge set by our talented Mallika. I'm here with an inspiration- A shabby chic card and a box. Shabby chic isn't my style. I've tried my best to make it look pretty. My inspiration comes from my pals Hussena and Pallavi who make awesome shabby chic projects with mesmerizing pastels! I'm sure they inspire all of you too... Here is my card- See the stitching (bad!) on the card? Doesn't it look pretty? This is the first time I used real stitching on my card. Stitching is a great addition to projects. I have used two pattern papers one on the base CS and one on the smaller panel. My embellishments are flowers, leaves, lace, jute twine, pearls and pearl head pins. (you only need to use 3 embellishments as per the recipe, more are welcome) one sentiment. Here is the matching box... Do leave some love! :) See you soon! Supplies used- Prima's Fairy rhymes paper pad. Papermania All the flowers, embellishments are from my stash. There is ahuge stock of mulberry flowers at Crafters Corner...check them out.

Hi! A quick post today to share a card featuring JustRite cling stamps. The sets that I used are Shabby Chic Labels Four, and Greetings from Paris. I also used some beautiful patterned papers that…
Scrapiniec: Clipboard. Ellers: Die fra Sizzix. Mønsterpapir, gesso, vokstråd, Star Dust og kartong. Legger denne til utfordringen hos Scrappegarasjen - Bruk dies Takk for titten!
Hi everyone! I was at our local Barnes and Noble tonight with my dh. I was looking for the new Papercrafts Magazine that came out on the 15t...
Hello, again! Today I'm sharing a card that combines my latest fixation with mixed media supplies and my long-time "fully-loaded shabby chic" card style. I was playing with some of my sprays one day, and noticed that the rose, dark tan, and silver looked pretty fun sitting there together on my craft sheet. But instead of creating one of my "smoosh papers" I decided to tape off a card-sized piece of mixed media paper and spray and spritz the three colors where I wanted them...and it ended up looking just the way I had hoped it would... The fun part is that the rose and the gray sprays both have a bit of iridescence to them, while the tan color is a flat paint...here you can see the glisten in the rose and grey that I mixed a bit in the corner... Yet when you hold the card at a different angle, you can really see the depths of the individual colors... Here are a few detail shots, starting at the upper left corner working around the card... The largest pink rose in the left corner is made using Spellbinders' Rose Creations dies...it started as a white rose, and was colored with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and a few spritzes of water... You know how I love to nestle pearls inside flower clusters...I'm not sure I'll ever be able to break that habit :) ... In the center is a fun loopy die cut using one of Tim Holtz' new mixed media dies. I cut it once from deep rose cardstock and a second time from a lighter rose color...offset them a little bit before attaching them to the card...then decided they needed a light dusting of white craft paint to distress them just a tad... Supplies: Color Mediums: Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays: Alpine Ice Rose, South Shore Sand, Gag Me With a Spoon Gray; Liquitex Ink! Titanium White Stencil: The Crafters Workshop "Mini Art Is" Art Mediums: Golden Modeling Paste Dies: Sizzix Flowers Branches & Leaves; Sizzix/Tim Holtz Scribbles & Splats; Spellbinders Rose Creations Small paper roses: Wild Orchid Crafts Pearls: Recollections Miscellaneous: lace pieces, twine, pink crystal stems, white craft paint Thanks so much for visiting today...have a great weekend! (And U.S. friends, don't forget to "spring forward" for the switch to Daylight Savings Time this weekend.)
Looking for my Dynamic Duos post? It's right after this post. :) Hello again! This week at Our Creative Corner, the lovely and talented Sue Butler is our hostess and she is challenging us to create a "Shabby-Chic" project. Here are the details in Sue's own words: "The theme this week is unequivocally 'Shabby Chic'. This means the shabby part of Vintage! The challenge requires you to pull elements together, the more old/worn and distressed the elements/images the better; think of muted colours, layers, roses, burlap and pearls. You do not have to use all of these elements. The effect you are aiming for is a soft warm palette." Ok, do you want to know a secret? I am NOT a shabby-chic gal. (not shocking, right?) I absolutely love this style, but it is a style that doesn't really come easily for me. After being a part of the Our Creative Corner Design Team (and having a friend like Ann Schach), who are masters of the "shabby chic-ness", I was hoping that I learned a thing or two from viewing their fantastic projects. In searching around "blogland" before I got started on my card, I was also inspired by the Crafty Creations Challenge featuring Pastels, Pearls and Lace. When I thought "shabby-chic", the stamp set that came to mind was Artistic Etchings. I was going to try to make it work with the pink/yellow/ivory/kraft color combo I had decided on. There are a lot of details on this card. I sponged ink on all of the edges, used the Color Spritzer Tool for some soft accents, glittered up the edges of the scalloped frame, dyed the seam binding, distressed all of the edges, busted out some acrylic paint to color the corner accent, heat embossed the stamped images...it was a lot but I totally had fun with the process of creating the card. I left the inside of the card dressed-up yet blank. I figure I can add a sentiment when the occasion suits. (anniversary, engagement, wedding) I dyed some Very Vanilla seam binding to match Blushing Bride. It's really easy, just fill a small bowl with water and a couple drops of re-inker. Add your seam binding, swirl it around, (don't splash it on your white shirt like I did) let it dry and BAM...custom-colored seam binding! All of the supplies used are listed at the end of this post. I hope you will join us and play along this week over at Our Creative Corner! It is time again for a NEW challenge at the Dies R Us challenge blog and this week the theme is "Embossing Folders". So get those folders out and join in...the only other requirement is to use a die (after all, that is what Dies R Us is all about..right?)!! I went a "Shabby Chic" route this time, which happens to be a favorite design of mine. Nothing like pretty soft colors, lace and pink to cheer up a day!! I started with a wonderful new embossing folder that has all these gorgeous little embossed quilt squares on it. I will have a list of the dies and links to them I used below, at the post bottom. I took several pictures so you can see some of the blocks. (The ones I haven't covered up that is)...LOL! The background paper that I embossed is Graphic 45 Little Darlings. The jar is one I purchased from an Etsy sight, isn't it gorgeous? And, here I have used those little Heart Stems once again, I told you, you would be seeing them a lot on my blog!! I just love these things! I made the Roses and Rose leaves, and funny thing is, all 3 Roses were constructed of the same paper, but I only inked the edges of two, using TH Distress Worn Lipstick ink. I added Frosted Lace Stickles to each Rose. The sentiment is from Flourishes Always Blooming set. Goodness how I miss that stamp company, good thing I have LOTS of their stamps! I tucked a little "crochet" die cut under the jar for a doily. Make sure to stop over at the "Dies R Us" challenge blog. Shabby Chic (with color palette shown above) and at Protosdelay (sketch shown above, and I sure hope I have the translation right!), and The Shabby Tea Room (pretty in pink). I layered and distressed all the papers, added butterfly's flowers, and die cut leaves! I love shabby chic so this was so much fun to make! Now that it is officially fall, we got into some gorgeous, rich colors! October's Prima Product Pick was based on vibrant purple, dusty mauve, taupe, and light khaki! There was no better way to go from the bright colors of summer to the deeper colors...
I w rękę trafił mi się papier, który przykuł moją uwagę :) A few days ago I decided to sort out my papers by colors. I started with blue & pink as I thought I have the most papers in those colors, that was what I thought :) I realize quickly that I have many cream, beige, coffee-colored papers , one of those caught my eye. Yes, that paper you can see today on my card. It is 04 from Yesterday collection. Z jednej strony jasno brązowy z napisami, z drugiej delikatnie miętowy z brązowymi kwiatami. One one side - light brown with a script, on the other delicate mint with brown flowers. Dlaczego zdecydowałam się go użyć? I made many projects using Yesterday collection but never used that paper :) I also had 'freshly' made matching foamiran flowers :) Chcielibyście zrobić podobną kartkę? Zapraszam do obejrzenia filmiku (po Polsku) : Would you like to create similar card? Wath my video tutorial (in English) : Użyłam / I used: Dziękuję / Thank you! HUGS XX
