Hi lovelies, today I want to share with you some tips to make your own travel altar kit. If you are a witch and you like to travel, or you often move for work or personal reasons, you cannot not have a travel altar. (But, even if you don't travel, it's a really nice way to have everything at hand and keep your ritual tools discreetly out of view). Creating your own travel altar kit is an experience, not just an assembly of items. I'll bring you an altar example, the first kit I made: the Sea Witch pocket altar kit. As I wrote before, creating this altar kit it was a truly unique experience. This is because creating a mini kit stimulates your creativity, it is a real process of personal growth, because you always learn something new, about nature and about yourself. Also: you will be able to experience the power you have in making things happen. Remember: you are a real magnet for your desires and needs and this is a small but great opportunity to experience it. For example: I had in mind what to put in this box, but I didn't have all the material on hand. I wanted its realization so bad! And, magically, the objects came into my hand very easily, sometimes without even looking for them. What I wanted came to me, and I was surprised by my power to attract things! This gave me more awareness of my power of attraction. But it is enough to digress and we go to practical things. Crafting Your Pocket Altar 1 - the box The most popular box for creating travel altars is the tin box, which usually contains candies. That kind of boxex are soooo freakin cute! But I live in Italy, I don't find them easily, and for me they are too small, so I bought a little wooden box, in a DIY store, which I then decorated with acrylic colors. 2 - Next, you will need to stock your altar. what goes into your kit, depends on you and what you usually use. in my etsy shop, as first kits, I created the mini kits dedicated to the witches of the 4 elements, but the kits can be endless. Certainly cannot missmy fav. tool: CANDLES! The candles must be small to fit easily into the box. there are two options: birthday candles, or pack tea lights. Last ones, unlike stick versions, they don’t need candle holders and the wax does not drip. For the Sea Witch altar kit, I crafted a candle inside a seashell: In addition to candles, I usually include first of all SALT! And stone, incense stick and herbs, but naturally other witches have different preferences. Some tools like athame for example, are not easy to pack, so a good solution could be draw that item on a card board, or find a sostitute (tip: try a tour of the toy department, or the miniature shop and you will find easily a solution!) Other things you can include: essential oils, talismans, tarot card, a pendulum (if you use it), matches, and, last but not least, a fabric base for your sacred space. 3 - one or two tips: - be creative and have fun! The aesthetic side doesn't matter, because first of all it must be functional for you. - don't board your altar by plane because there may be restrictions on herbs, candles and matches. Love, Chiara.

I was so excited to see this months Graphic 45 challenge: #G45DarkSide. This was just the prompt I needed to get to business on a project I’ve been thinking about for a long while. I’m a big fan of altering altoid tins. You can create these tins to hold just about anything. Create a fancy little sewing kit. Keep one in your car filled with emergency bits and bobs. You can fit a surprising amount in those little tins. I’ve created two #G45DarkSide tins here. One tin pairs papers from Communique—Deluxe Collector's Edition with brass Staples Decorative Hardware. The other uses Floral Shoppe with shabby chic Staples Decorative Hardware The tins contain a sort of storage space which, if careful, can fit a surprising amount of goodies! All of the items above fit comfortably in that trap-door space. My tins will be used as tiny portable travel altars. Each contains matches, a vile of herbs, incense, candles, gemstones, a tiny crystal ball, vessels for libations and offerings, magnetic images and more! But if altars aren’t your thing… no worries! The video tutorial I’ve created demonstrates how to cover an altoid style tin and create the trapdoor element inside. So take those instructions to create something that suits YOU. I'm smitten with my little altars but I totally encourage you to take this idea and run with it, making something filled with little things useful or treasured by you. Small travel shrine dedicated to Persephone depicts Her pomegranate when closed. When open a full figure engraved on the left is revealed and the symbol from the front stands behind a small shelf that folds down for offerings. The design allows room inside when closed for a few small items, such as votive candle, lighter, incense and a small bottle of oil, perfect for the person on the go! Other designs are also available so contact us if you do not see the shrine you are looking for in the other altar boxes posted currently to Etsy. Each item is made by artist/teacher Rev. Sarah Heartsong (www.heartsonghealingarts.net) while in prayer to the deity depicted. Persephone/Kore is special to Heartsong, so each have a gentle blessing from the Goddess through the Maker's hands. Special all natural, homemade anointing wax seals the dedication to the deity into the altar before it is sent out to the buyer. Sizes Available (Measurements Approximate): Tiny size- 4.75" x 2.75" x 1.75" (Inside 4.25" x 2.25" x 1.5") Small- 6" x 3.75" x 2.5" (Inside 5.25" x 3" x 2.25") Large- 6.75" x 4.75" x 3" (Inside 6.25" x 4.5" x 2.75") XL 5.4" x 8.25" x 2.5” (Inside 7.75” x 5.25” x 3.25”) Black velvet pouches can be requested for all sizes of box for $5 extra. Customization options: Changes in stain or the fabric on the offering shelf add no cost. Stain choices include Black, Cabernet, Cherry, Gold, Green, and Walnut. Additions of names, symbols, etc. will have an additional charge depending on time required to add content to the shrine. Contact seller through a message requesting customization if this is desired. Velvet for the offering shelf will be black unless you add a personalization to the order with a request for another color. We have many options in stock including red, green, dark green, blue, navy blue, purple and gold. NOTES: We are in the middle of reformatting all our designs to new software with our laser engraver. The size of the images may vary somewhat from the pictures as we tweak the designs. All altar boxes naturally vary in look due to differences in the wood and how that specific box takes the stain. All boxes are made to order and we are a small business, so plan timing accordingly. They can take up to 3 weeks depending on how busy we are and if we have stock at hand that fits your specific color choices. Due to the quality of wood each piece is unique and each takes stains differently. There may be places where the stain takes darker and others hardly at all. This makes each shrine unique. Sometimes faces and/or shapes pop out in the pattern of the wood if one looks closely enough. SHIPPING NOTE: Etsy only allows one weight and the weight of the boxes changes significantly. We've noticed that, for example, the tiny size it charges almost double for shipping to international locations than is necessary. If you buy the item and pay too much in shipping we refund the difference to you. If you don't pay enough for shipping internationally we eat the difference. Domestic shipping inside the USA is free, so this isn't an issue. If you are an international customer and want to pay exactly the right amount contact us directly and we will make a custom listing for you to purchase with the correct shipping. We also use Etsy's global shipping as a default. Thank you!
