This linocut has been designed, cut into a linocut block, and printed by me onto quality handmade Asian paper. It's been printed the old-fashioned way, by hand without a press. I then hand-painted it in blue, red, brown, yellow and gold. Asherah is a fascinating goddess, extremely ancient and associated with trees, even the Tree of Life. In ancient Semitic religion she is a Mother Goddess. Under slightly different names she appears in many ancient writings. Along with Astarte and Ananth, she is one of three great goddesses in the Canaanite religion. Some scholars link her with the Biblical Eve. Here I have depicted her as in an ancient carving, waving sheaths of wheat, sitting on her throne and flanked by two caprids - goat-antelopes. This print is unique and original. It comes in the black mat pictured and measures 7" x 5" matted. She comes in a clear cellophane envelope, so you can prop her up on a shelf or, without the envelope, slip her into a standard 7" x 5" frame. "Asherah" is titled, signed by me, and stamped with my signature red chlp.
