Herbstzeit ist Apfelzeit. Und was passt einfach perfekt zu Äpfeln? Genau – Karamell!

This [apple cake](https://www.instagram.com/p/BiUCF_8HQo3/) looks as delicious as the fruit but yummier as it's made of mousse with Callebaut gold chocolate, apple vanilla compote, almond sponge cake, shortcrust dough and raspberry sauce. It's created by pastry chef [Dinara Kasko](https://www.instagram.com/dinarakasko/) ([previously](https://www.neatorama.com/2016/09/13/Architectural-Designer-Applies-Her-Skills-To-Baking-Cakes/) on Neatorama)....

Self-taught chef Rhiannon over at Cakecrumbs has been working on a fun series of planetary cakes that are designed to be scientifically accurate with different types of cake representing various layers within Earth and Jupiter. For her Jupiter Cake the center is the theoretical rock/ice core (mudcake), followed by a layer of liquid metallic hydrogen (almond butter), and finally the liquid molecular hydrogen (colored vanilla). She layered her Earth Cake similarly and finished it off with some absurdly detailed continent design made with marshmallow fondant. More

What if I told you that cakes nowadays come in all shapes and sizes? And sometimes they come in the shapes that people never expect them to be in? For instance, in the shape of a masterful Persian rug?
Forgive the whimsy of its naming, but every time I've tried to rename this cake, I veer back to this. I used to refer to it as Venetian chocolate cake, because its inspiration comes from a cake of that name in Nick Malgieri's luscious chocolate book but as my cake changed from his specifications, the title seemed misleading. Anyway, it's ended up like this simply because Caz, the designer, art director and adviser on my books ever since How To Eat, remarked on its baroque appearance as we were photographing it; from baroque to rococo to "rococoa" was an obvious stagger. And please read the Additional Information section at the end of the recipe before proceeding. For US cup measures, use the toggle at the top of the ingredients list.
I am a so so cook but there is nothing more appealing to me than a well composed plate of food. This post is dedicated to the many ways well known cooks present a dish. I’d leave the cooking …

While many people are spending their days starting batches of sourdough, Karin Pfeiff-Boschek has been busy baking sweet pies with mesmerizing arrangements that appear almost too pretty to eat. She tops each pastry with a delicate floral motif of flaky dough, a precisely arranged gradient of sliced fruit, or a checkered weave braided in rows. The pastry designer tells Colossal that she was raised in a family of bakers, although pies weren’t her first form of artistic expression. More
This cake was inspired by the interior designer Orla Kiely, who is well known for this particular pattern. It is an early birthday cake for my lovely sister in law who is a huge fan of this design. This is a 6" chocolate 'mud' cake, filled with homemade chocolate ganache hand decorated and 100% edible. Please note that due to copyright, this cake is 'an artist's impression' of any design.
