On February 28th I finished my first round of Insanity Max30. I was so shocked when I did the cardio challenge on Saturday because I was finding that the exercises that were near impossible to me in the beginning were easier. However, in a program like Max30 you don't just let things get easier, you have to push yourself to make those movements harder and in many instances that meant moving faster. At the end of my 60 day transformation I am 14.5 pounds lighter and lost 10.9 inches overall. To say that this program has transformed me is an understatement. INSANITY MAX:30 is unlike any Beachbody program I have done before. I did not lose much weight on the program but my Max:30 results pictures speak volumes.
I am only two weeks into month two of this program and all I can say is that completing Insanity MAX:30 Max Out Sweat was my best workout of month 2 so far.
A little over 2 months ago when this program was released, I bought it as soon as I could but doubted myself and my capabilities before even starting. I went into this program know it was going to be difficult and knowing it was high intensity and all cardio. I didn't think there was going to be any way I was going to finish it but as a coach I felt like I at least needed to try it. In the past, when things were difficult for me, I would give up. I would find an excuse and move on. After my first workout, I had no doubt in my mind that my days were numbered in this program. It was by far the hardest thing I ever did. I felt like I was at max heart rate for 30 minutes straight. I didn't enjoy it because it pushed me! I kept going and doing it everyday because I was in an accountability group. I made a commitment to do it and I had others cheering me along and holding me accountable. Everyday, I enjoyed it a little bit more. It never became easier because I continued to push myself further and further with each workout. I started to actually look forward to the workout and even crave it. Not only was I getting an amazing workout, but I was also able to take so many of the lessons into my everyday life. I almost instantly saw results and it was like my body was transforming before my eyes. I was gaining so much strength physically and mentally. This program built strength, defines my muscles, gave me visible abs, took 13 inches away from my body, and gave me confidence that I never had! Anyone really can do this program. For the past 60 days Joey and I have been following the Insanity Max 30 program. This is the most challenging program that I have ever done and completed! I have gained so much from this program. I've gained knowledge, endurance and strength! My endurance is the thing that I have seen improve the most. When we first started I was maxing out around 7-8 minutes. Now that we have completed the program I was maxing out anywhere from 23 minutes (THERE ARE A LOT OF PUSH-UPS) to 30 minutes! What a huge improvement! The best thing about completing it is that I DID IT! I made a goal and I followed through. There is nothing better than that feeling especially when the journey is really hard. I also loved that my husband, Joey, and I were able to do this together as a team. Working out together truly does bring you closer together especially when you are both working towards a similar goal. With all that being said....I have a confession to make. I'm pretty nervous about this confession but it is a part of learning how to live a healthy lifestyle and it was a lesson I needed to learn. Below I have my stats from beginning, middle, and end. Why did you gain inches and weight while doing such a hard workout program? Well, I will tell you why..... NUTRITION! Did you know that 80% of weight loss is nutrition? YOU CANNOT WORK OFF A BAD DIET. And that is exactly what happened. I was working out every day and putting my all into it. However, I was eating whatever I wanted. I got derailed. I was eating sweets, pizza, etc. Things that #1 make me gain, #2 don't let my body function the way it should, and #3 that make me moody and not get good sleep. It doesn't matter if you workout like crazy. That is not going to make up for a poor diet. Here are my pictures from Feb.1 and Feb. 28 What did I change to get these results? Did I workout more? No. I did exactly what I was doing before. I changed my diet. I used the 21 day fix nutrition plan in the last two weeks of the program and that is where I saw the biggest change. You will notice that not only did I lose weight and inches but you can see my muscles better. That is the effect of clean eating. Here are my pictures from January 1 to Feb. 28 Those are good results for someone my size. I don't need to lose weight and inches. But, I believe if I had stuck with clean eating and portion control that I would have been able to see more muscle definition because I worked HARD! So, the moral of the story is..... Nutrition and Fitness go hand in hand. I have had friends in my challenge groups who have gotten sick or injured and worried immediately that they would gain weight because they couldn't work out. I am here to tell you that that IS NOT TRUE. Nutrition is 80% of weight loss. If you are sick or injured and you stick to clean eating and portion control you will continue to lose while your body is recovering. Now...with all of that being said I want to share Joey's results! Joey is now at the lowest weight he has ever been since he was a CHILD! How exciting is that?! He is just 14 pounds away from his goal weight. In the past two years he has worked so hard despite working 12 hour days. If anyone has an excuse to not workout it's him. BUT....working out is a PRIORITY to him so he MADE TIME. Here are his Insanity Max 30 results. "After 8 weeks of Insanity Max 30 the results are in!!! 12.6 pounds lost, 1/2 inch lost around my chest and 1 1/2 inches lost around my belly. It feels so good to be done with the program, and it feels even better to see such awesome results!!" Living a Healthy Lifestyle is a learning process. Slow and Steady wins the race. There is no quick fix. There is no magic pill, or magic wrap, or extreme diet that is going to give you LASTING results. If you want to lose weight, feel great and learn how to keep it off this is the only way. Hard work and dedication. I will tell you that the hard work is worth every amount of effort I put into. No one did this but me! To give you an idea of where we have come from.... here are our before and afters from when we first started our journey about 2 years ago.
On January 5, my husband and I decided to do Insanity Max:30. He's done the original Insanity but honestly, I had ZERO interest! I'd seen him do some of the Insanity workouts and, um, no thanks. But my team was doing a couples challenge so I thought I'd give it a try and do it with him. Here's what happened: *We woke up every morning before the kids and worked out together (I am NOT an early riser) *We found that we actually LIKED working out together *We pushed and motivated each other to keep going *Doing this together, made us work harder *It was almost like a little date in the morning *I LOVED IT *I lost 10lbs I honestly never thought I'd like this workout as much as I did. It's only 30 minutes, 5 days a week and it's so cool to see how far you went the week before. The idea is to go as hard as you can until you "max out". You write down your time, find your life, and then jump right back in & keep going. There's also a Modifier Track in the opening menu. This allows you to split the screen so you can see Shaun T and focus on the modifier. This right here was how I was able to do it. I modified almost all of it. I can't do jumping and I wasn't interested in immediately maxing out. The first workout on the first day, I could've maxed out in the warm up! I also followed the 21 Day Fix meal plan. Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body? My entire life I have been overweight. I remember in middle school hating gym class because we had to wear shorts, and my legs would rub together, and I was always embarrassed. I remember always having the highest number in softball because that was the largest size. I remember in high school hoping someone wouldn’t walk up the stairs with me because I would be out of breath at the top. In college I remember having to scope out restaurants and theaters to make sure I’d fit in the booth or the chairs beforehand. Even worse I had to make sure that they weren’t the cheap plastic seats that I could break! Even as an adult, a wife, and a mother I was still avoiding life. My husband wanted to go to an amusement park and I kept making excuses because I was scared I wouldn’t fit into the rides or I would be too tired from all the walking. Finally I realize that I wasn’t living. I was hiding and making excuses and worst of all, I wasn’t being a good role model for my son, I had more to give. He needed more. He deserved better! What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey? My son was my biggest motivator. I want to be a very present mother and be involved in all his activities. I didn’t want to worry how far the playground was from the parking lot, or if I could climb up the playset to help him down the slide. I want him to know what a healthy lifestyle looks like and have a healthy role model. I never want him to feel trapped inside a body he didn’t have control over. I wanted to teach him how to be healthy so he won’t go through the pain I did growing up. I also want to expand our family and in my past pregnancies I was always considered high risk and a large part of it was due to my high weight. My weight was a factor in my fertility struggles and I was to blame, that was a hard pill to swallow. What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?I was worried about failure. What if I didn’t lose weight and everyone knew. I have tried all different types of diets and the lasted maybe a week or two. I would get frustrated and give up and then I would gain even more weight and feel like a complete failure. I had to change my mindset too. My family is on the larger side so I was just trying to accept I would always be large. Being overweight was my destiny. Beachbody changed everything. Beachbody made it easy to follow a routine and results were inevitable. When you stop with the excuses and just put in the hard work results will come; there’s no getting around it! I have more energy, confidence and most importantly I am happy! I have my life back. I don’t want to take a nap every time my son does, I can chase him on the playground, I get right up on the playset and run around with him, I can go on family walks, I don’t have to worry about not fitting into chairs and booths, I don’t dread clothes shopping because every store carries my size, and I can accomplish so much more. I Knew I Could... Getting pumped as I took on the last week! What a busy week this past week was! Between my two snow days, my birthday, a trip to Pittsburgh for a doctors appt and dinner with my challengers the week flew by faster than I could have blinked. It felt so good to get closer and closer to the end of this 60 day program Each day brought me closer and closer to being able to check off the box that took me one step closer to the goal I thought in December was going to be impossible to achieve. Today I am happy to report that I am officially an Insanity Max 30 graduate!!!!! WHOOP WHOOP!!!! FOCUS was my motto this week This shirt is so fitting for my 4:30 am work out wake up call. Somedays the struggle really is real. I was proud to say I rocked the workouts this week! Got them all in on the days I was supposed to get them in on. No excuses and no cheats! My nutrition was an entirely different story. Being home from work all day is made it way harder to stay out of the pantry and fridge. I was trying to lean out and have less carbs and fruit last week and up my protein servings but my brain just was not digging it. I kept wanting to inhale carbs. I think when you restrict something from your usual habits it becomes a mind day. As far as cheats go for this week some of the really bad ones would be a few slices of a Dairy Queen Cake that my husband brought home for me for my birthday. A salted caramel pretzel milkshake that I splurged on at a new restaurant my husband and I tried on our way home from my doctors appt in Pittsburgh and a white pizza from Champs from when I went out to dinner with some of my challengers and coaches. Busy week full of not so hot food choices. One of my cheats this week... Salted caramel pretzel milk shake... This thing made me terribly sick. Sugar feels like poison when you eat clean then cheat! UGH! While it would be nice to show you my after pictures and be able to say I lost oodles of weight and dropped a pants size or something, but I cannot say that I did because I only lost around 4 lbs. WHAT 4lbs in 60 days? I know you're thinking “that must not work then.” You see your wrong and you're wrong for two reasons. Number one I was not all in on my nutrition. I was focused about 75 - 80% of the time. I took this train off the the tracks a few times a week and didn’t stress about it. What I have found is that you can kill yourself working out but if you don’t focus on what you are fueling your body with your wasting your time. The second reason is that I started at 120 lbs and a size 0. When you are a size 0 you don’t have much room to go anywhere while still being “healthy” and losing weight at that size is very hard to do while still eating in a healthy range. I have said this before but I weigh almost the same as I did when I started exercising last year at this time but my body looks very different. I do not do this to be “skinny.” I have been “skinny” all my life. I do it to be healthy and fit. Fit and skinny are not the same thing I have come to learn. My little man wanted to join me in the after poses I will take my small transformation and go with it. Still working on my abs! That is the area that I still want to improve upon. A six pack never looked too bad on anyone. I am taking this week off from anything other than ab workouts. I am eating up in my calorie bracket to give my body a break because next week I am going to start on 21 day fix extreme which will be a true challenge. It comes out tomorrow and I think it might be what helps get me to a six pack or maybe at least a 4 pack ;) Thanks for following my journey! Between my two snow days, my birthday, a trip to Pittsburgh for a doctors appt and dinner with my challengers the week flew by faster than I could have blinked. It felt so good to get closer and closer to the end of this 60 day program Each day brought me closer and closer to being able to check off the box that took me one step closer to the goal I thought in December was going to be impossible to achieve. Today I am happy to report that I am officially an Insanity Max 30 graduate!!!!! WHOOP WHOOP!!!! FOCUS was my motto this week This shirt is so fitting for my 4:30 am work out wake up call. Somedays the struggle really is real. I was proud to say I rocked the workouts this week! Got them all in on the days I was supposed to get them in on. No excuses and no cheats! My nutrition was an entirely different story. Being home from work all day is made it way harder to stay out of the pantry and fridge. I was trying to lean out and have less carbs and fruit last week and up my protein servings but my brain just was not digging it. I kept wanting to inhale carbs. I think when you restrict something from your usual habits it becomes a mind day. As far as cheats go for this week some of the really bad ones would be a few slices of a Dairy Queen Cake that my husband brought home for me for my birthday. A salted caramel pretzel milkshake that I splurged on at a new restaurant my husband and I tried on our way home from my doctors appt in Pittsburgh and a white pizza from Champs from when I went out to dinner with some of my challengers and coaches. Busy week full of not so hot food choices. One of my cheats this week... Salted caramel pretzel milk shake... This thing made me terribly sick. Sugar feels like poison when you eat clean then cheat! UGH! While it would be nice to show you my after pictures and be able to say I lost oodles of weight and dropped a pants size or something, but I cannot say that I did because I only lost around 4 lbs. WHAT 4lbs in 60 days? I know you're thinking “that must not work then.” You see your wrong and you're wrong for two reasons. Number one I was not all in on my nutrition. I was focused about 75 - 80% of the time. I took this train off the the tracks a few times a week and didn’t stress about it. What I have found is that you can kill yourself working out but if you don’t focus on what you are fueling your body with your wasting your time. The second reason is that I started at 120 lbs and a size 0. When you are a size 0 you don’t have much room to go anywhere while still being “healthy” and losing weight at that size is very hard to do while still eating in a healthy range. I have said this before but I weigh almost the same as I did when I started exercising last year at this time but my body looks very different. I do not do this to be “skinny.” I have been “skinny” all my life. I do it to be healthy and fit. Fit and skinny are not the same thing I have come to learn. My little man wanted to join me in the after poses I will take my small transformation and go with it. Still working on my abs! That is the area that I still want to improve upon. A six pack never looked too bad on anyone. I am taking this week off from anything other than ab workouts. I am eating up in my calorie bracket to give my body a break because next week I am going to start on 21 day fix extreme which will be a true challenge. It comes out tomorrow and I think it might be what helps get me to a six pack or maybe at least a 4 pack ;) Thanks for following my journey!
