They say the artist’s eye sees what others cannot see and this is really proven by the many examples of art that are dotted around the world. It is indeed astonishing to see bits of material like clay, metal, stone, and wood show themselves in a different avatar to the artist’s eyes than when we (by that we mean non-artists) see them. You can see what we mean by this when you look at the extraordinary line and wire sculptures that so charmingly dot this article. Where most people see bits of wire and line, the artist has seen art that almost seems to come alive. There is a sense of energy and movement in these bits of metal that almost make you wait with bated breath to see the work of art come to life and take off or do something that assures that it is alive. There is much to be admired about sculptures whether it is basic wire sculptures or astonishingly life-like figurative sculptures and this can literally leave you gasping for breath at the skill, imagination and talent that has gone into the making of such art.
It seems strange, but cold, thin wires are one of the best materials when an artist wants to represent the human form. These elegant and fluid wire sculptures by Richard Stainthorp, an artist based in Richmond in the U.K., seem like dancers or woodland spirits captured in mid-stride.
Today there are many artist that use interesting kinds of materials to make fine art. Wires are one of them. Wires are very easy to manage and they can

Salman Khoshroo builds figures out of electric wire, with the resulting character being made for both close inspection and movement. His reflections show the ties between the human machine and the manmade machine. And his kinetic sculptures, in particular, tell of the inherent ability for motion in both of these.
Wire sculpture/ drawings by Polish born Australian artist Barbara Licha. These figures are very much trapped and caged, but I love the spaces they create and inhabit, they seem to be dancing their frustrations out before us.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MATERIAL USED: Please note that all my creations are made of real French annealed iron wire which I treat naturally to prevent rust with my little secret recipe so that it goes through time without changing and without rusting. With this type of yarn you will have a creation with a very interesting finish, a very trendy and very solid matte finish. You can handle it with no problem. Raw iron wire is a much more noble material and much more complicated to work with than an aluminum wire creation, which remains very malleable and fragile and looks too shiny. I do not use any template to make my creations. Everything is handmade. I mainly use 1.6 mm annealed wire but also thicker wire. There may be a variation in the shapes but it remains minimal. Remember that this is a handcrafted production and therefore each piece is unique. Annealed iron wire is a wire without treatment. He is dull. It tends to patina over time. Annealed iron wire is the most beautiful for making creations and making them poetic. If you like vintage, aged or weathered objects, this type of object is for you. This pattern is part of the Statement Knits eBook that contains 5 knit earring patterns, 5 knit necklace patterns and a Pom-Pom Headband as a bonus. Get the ebook here! Knitting with wire is fun, but also very hard on your hands and needles. The wire is very thin and knitting is a lot fiddlier than with yarn and it may break if you pull too hard. You’ll likely break a needle or two. The good thing is that even if your stitches slide off the needles, they will not drop and you can just insert the needle again. Feel free to explore other shapes for your first wire knitting projects, like a simple square. I recommend stockinette stitch for knitting with wire, as the stitches will look more even and like knitting – after pulling them into shape. These wire leaf earrings are a delicate knit and an elegant way to wear and celebrate knitting. Draht: 0,25 mm Schmuckdraht Stricknadeln: 2 mm Sonstiges: 2 Ohrhaken, Flachzange
These little cameras are made with one piece of aluminum wire. They are lightweight and will never tarnish. The hooks are surgical steel and are hypo-allergenic. This design was carried by the gallery shop at Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography in Ottawa for many years and are worn regularly by NYC graffiti photographer Martha Cooper. I have been making custom wire art and jewelry for 30 years. I started in 1989 selling jewelry on the streets of Montreal. Over the years I have participated in many craft shows, exhibitions and sold my work in gallery shops across Canada including the National Gallery of Canada. My husband and I specialize in custom wedding cake toppers featuring his wire bicycles and people that can be transformed into any sports figures and musicians. I am inspired by special requests by clients and would be happy to create something special based on your sketches, photos and ideas. ***PLEASE NOTE ALL ITEMS IN MY ETSY SHOP ARE COPYRIGHT PROTECTED AND MAY NOT BE REPRODUCED WITHOUT PERMISSION.

Korean artist Seung Mo Park (previously) continues to amaze with his astonishingly crafted figurative sculptures made with tightly wrapped layers of aluminum wire based on fiberglass forms. The works shown here are part of the Brooklyn-based artist’s Human series where he recreates the delicate wrinkles and folds of clothing as well as the sinuous musculature of the human body in metallic layers reminiscent of tree rings. He’s also sculpted bicycles, musical instruments and other forms as part of his Object series. More

Landscape sound art, "Nature versus Synthetics" by Ronald Van Der Meijs,2008, Materials: welding, chrome bicycle bell caps | "The installation 'Nature' is a site specific composition from 5000 chrome bicycle bells that are swaying in the wind of the polder in a natural way, as a reed. What do you see when looking at an unused fork, a screw, a car part, and other scraps? Most of us see something that belongs in a dump, except for Brian Mock, a sculptor and a metal revolutionist who is bringing reclaimed materials back to life in a form of spectacular sculpture art.
