Let's talk Designer Series Paper for a moment. I think besides ink pads, it was the first thing I bought when I first started stamping. Why? Because it makes really easy, quick, beautiful cards.
Hi, Crafty People! Today I'm participating in a Crafty Challenge Blog Hop with a group of outstanding demonstrators from around the world. Our challenge is to design a card using the sketch below. Below is the card I designed. I used the Simply Elegant Designer Series Paper, which is beautiful paper. It has gold, silver, and copper foil highlights on 6 of the designs. One side is foiled and the other side isn't. The card base is a Basic Black 11" x 4 1/4" piece of cardstock scored and folded at 5 1/2". The next layer is a 4" x 5 1/4" copper piece from the Brushed Metallic 12" x 12" cardstock. This pack also has bronze and gold foil sheets in it. The focal cardstock is a 5" x 3 3/4" piece from the Simply Elegant Designer Series Paper pack. I chose the piece with all the copper flowers on it. I cut this paper in half in both directions which is 2 1/2" the long way and 1 7/8" on the shorter side. To ensure my corners were folded down evenly, I cut a piece of Thick White the same size as the 4 sections, 2 1/2 " x 1 7/8". I then measured 1 1/4'' from the top right sides across and down. I cut this corner off resulting in the piece pictured below. Next I placed this piece on top of my designer series paper and folded the corners down. (This is another piece from the same pack, not the piece I used. It has silver and gold foil in it.) This is how the corners fold back. Here is the result with the center showing the 4 corners folded back. I used one of the dies from Encircled in Beauty for my center piece. The happy birthday is from the Birthday Chick dies, and I cut it from the black glitter paper. I used a stamp from the stamp set Inspired Thoughts for my sentiment, and the flower is from the Elegantly Said stamp set. These were stamped with Cinnamon Cider ink. I cut out a flower from the designer series paper and added it to the stamped flowers. Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you like my card. Do you ever have one of those stamp sets that just kind of scares you a little? And by scares you, I mean, you are just not sure how to use it or you feel overwhelmed? I wasn't sure how to use all the pieces in this set until I created this Elegantly Said card and was able to combine several of the stamps in the set on this card! I was thrilled with the outcome!! I showed it to my friend Tammy and she loved it! yay! Direct to Rubber Technique Above: I used 3 Stampin'
Hi everyone, sharing another of the cards from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation fundraiser held last Saturday. This card uses the products from the gorgeous Simple Elegant suite. How scrumptious is the Simply Elegant Specialty Designer Series Paper. The card base is made from a piece of Very Vanilla Thick A4 cut in half and then folded in half. The flourish image was stamped on the top left and bottom right corners of the card front using Smoky Slate ink. The Designer Series Paper was cut at: Grey Flourish piece - 3.8cm x 11cm Gray Diamond piece - 2.6cm x 10.2cm Copper/Silver/Gold Floral piece -5.1cm x 7.6cmThe Basic Black mats were cut 0.4cm larger. Adhere all these pieces together and then adhere to the card front. Take note that I used small scraps of cardstock behind the layers to even them out and take away the dips between the layers. Stamp the sentiment from the Elegantly Said stamp set on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Black Memento ink and punch out using the Elegant Tag Punch. The decorative edge on the bottom was then stamped. I found that stamping this after it had been punched out was easier to get it lined up. Tie a gold trim bow to the top of the tag and adhere to the card front using Dimensionals. For the inside of the card, stamp the decorative border image on the bottom edge of a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock cut at 9.5cm x 13.8cm. Adhere this piece of Very Vanilla to a Basic Black cardstock mat and then adhere to the card inside. If you live in Australia you can get all the supplies you need for this project from me. Simply Elegant Masculine Birthday Card. A Stunning card using the floating technique to make the feature DSP pop.
Today I'm thrilled to be taking part in: I have chosen to use the stamp set Elegantly Said and the Simply Elegant Specialty Designer Series Paper. These will both be available in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue which will be available from 4th May 2021. I have a very bad habit of not using the Specialty DSP because it is just so gorgeous! I feel really guilty about it and have been trying to change and have made every effort to #loveitchopit!!! A technique I picked up years ago is to use multiple embossing powders on the one image. Because the Simply Elegant SDSP looks like it has copper, silver and black in it, I thought it would be a good time to dust it off! Card Measurements Card base: 29.7cm x 10.5cm scored at 14.9cm and folded (I used Shimmery White card stock) 1st layer: 14.5cm x 5cm (SDSP) Scrap for sentiment, matting and flower Piece of plastic straw cut at an angle Instructions Adhere SDSP to front of card base Stamp image on scrap using versamark Using the plastic straw, scoop up a little bit of embossing powder and by gently tapping straw add it in the area you want it on the stamped image Repeat the last step until you have used your three embossing powders and stamped image is completely covered Tip excess embossing powder off into a bin (it's not a lot and it can't go back into the original container as the colours will be all mixed up) Heat set embossed image Fussy cut image Adhere image to front of card base using mini dimensionals Stamp sentiment on scrap using memento Adhere sentiment to matting Adhere matted sentiment to front of card base using mini dimensionals Adhere metallic pearls to front of card base Stamp image on inside back of card base using memento I hope you try the multi coloured heat embossing, it's fun and always interesting in how it turns out! You're sure to find heaps more to interest or inspire you on the other blogs. You are on my page - Deb Macdowell - Inkstability. To visit the other blogs in this hop, simply click on the links below. I'd love to hear what you think about the technique I used. Please share any of your projects using it in the comments below. Cheers Deb xx

Hello, All the images on this card are from the Elegantly Said stamp set (#155095). I stamped the detailed swirls using VersaMark (#102283) and heat embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder (#155555) and set with the Heat Tool (#129056). I used the Stamparatus (#148187) to stamp the images on both pieces of Basic White card (#159228). Then the white cards were attached to the Gorgeous Grape card (#147011). The ribbon is Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon (#154572). I stamped the flowers with Gorgeous Grape ink (#147099) and then fussy cut them. Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (#144108) were used to attach this to the card. The sentiment was also stamped with Gorgeous Grape ink. After assembling the card I added the Pastel Pearls (#154571). The specials for the designer series papers finishes on 2nd August, so don't delay if you still want to take advantage of these discounts. I have used this techique previously and further details and the cutting guide can be found here. I have done a close up of each card so you can see the layout better. You make 6 cards (2 of each design) using 3 pieces of 6" x 6" piece of Designer Series Paper. This is a fun way of using your paper stash. Hope you enjoyed these cards. Hi There! Its Bruno here and I have some simple projects to share with you today. Make sure you read till the end of this project to find out about the Join+ Promotion where you can get $114 of products FREE! But, back to the projects. When I first saw the catalogue, there was one sheet of paper that was simply my favourite sheet of Designer Series Paper ...... EVER! It was THIS sheet.... It is absolutely gorgeous! It reminds me of the Chrysler Building in New York and is a quintessential Art Deco pattern. I love that the base colour is Basic Grey. So, when I started out on this project, I wanted to create something that truly featured the paper and anything else would be complementary. Here is what I ended up with; Its a Basic Grey card base with the DSP as the main feature with a piece if Gold Foil over the top and an intermediate layer in Basic Grey. It's a simple card, but I love how it turned out. Its very moody (like me, I guess!) So, I liked how it turned out. So, I set out to try making two other cards using two other sheets of the Specialty DSP with foil. Here is the second card (using Basic Black and Copper Foil) And, here is the third card with Basic White and Golf Foil. For each of the sentiments, I embossed onto card stock and hand cut and adhered to the card base using dimensionals. Which card is your favourite? Leave a comment below and let me know. I know which one is my favourite. The Stampin' Up! Starter Kit is the BEST deal! Typically, with the purchase of a starter kit, you pay $169 and receive $235 worth of products - thats $66 FREE!!!! However, between May 4-31, the deal is as follows; Pay $169 and receive $283 worth of products! That is a whopping $114 worth of products FREE!!!! The starter kit is fully customisable and As mentioned above, this promotion runs from May 4-31. It is absolutely no obligation and there is no pressure to sell or hold parties.
